Review and photos by Frances Sealy Adele started the tour 107 performances ago and this show was the last of the US leg of the tour. This was the rescheduled date from August due to illness. She apologized several times during the show to the 15,000 fans and said, "This is going to be the best one because I was really sick the last time I was here. This will be two hours of misery with slow and sad songs. I do talk a lot. I talk a lot because I get very nervous." Many 'F' bombs were dropped during the show, but her British accent seems to make it 'classy.'Many reviews have been written during the tour. Adele's voice and singing was at its best. The adoring crowd screamed and sang from beginning to end. Early in the show, Adele asked, "Who has an anniversary? What's your anniversary? Married 39 years, no way. Come up here. Get up on stage. Let's give them a round of applause. Been together for 42 years." Adele posed with the couple for a selfie and interviewed them before they left the stage. Speaking on, "I refused to do it the first time asked. It was 10% laziness and I immediately I regretted not doing it. They asked again later, I said yes. They gave me the script and it was top secret. It had my name on every page. I was very pregnant at the time when I did it. I had swollen ankles and big lips which is something since I already had big lips. My voice got lower during pregnancy. I sounded like a bloody man. A side effect of pregnancy is that the larynx gets lower. No video was done because I was so pregnant. I got nominated for the Oscar and I won the bloody Oscar. We keep it in the lavatory. I keep the Oscar on the toilet. It's the first thing I see everyday. I go pee and I see my Oscar. I sit on the toilet and I'm I laughing out loud." More revelations: "Before I went on tour I had been working out getting ready for the tour. Since I've been on tour, not so much." She cackled. "I went to Texas, and had some of that Texas barbeque. Originally, my bum was three to four inches bigger than this chair. Now my bum is eight to nine inches bigger than this chair. Alison Krauss was the inspiration for the song, "Don't You Remember". " I am obsessed to the point of being a bit creepy. I discovered her when she made Raising Sand with Robert Plant. I have google alerts on her. I want to know everything about her. She actually came to a show in Nashville, which blew my mind. I even followed her into the toilet. She was very polite. I didn't see anything. Adele remarked, "I never completed a tour before, not of this magnitude. A lot of people didn't think I could do it. So, fuck you." Another Adele-ism, "I've worn the same dress for 107 shows." Before the tour, Adele had been known to have stage fright. However, it's hard to believe that this is still a problem. It was Adele's party and everyone was having fun and Adele seemed to have the most fun. There is little wonder that she has become so endearing to U.S. audiences because she puts everything out there. Bravo to Adele! |
