Every year the B96 Pepsi Jingle Bash is known for bringing together several burgeoning names in pop with some already established superstars, though with Britney Spears topping this edition, it could've quite possibly qualified as its biggest yet. In fact, the show sold out so fast and furious that sections behind the stage were opened to fulfill the demand, and for those who managed to obtain a ticket, that meant more than four hours of tightly packed performances reflecting virtually all of today's top trends.

Of course, Britney was the talk of the town, who outside of hitting a small handful of select radio station shows, can only be seen in her extensive Las Vegas residency. Along with a fleet of dancers and various images flanking the jumbotrons, the sexy Spears gave Chicago area appreciators a taste of Sin City as she revealed songs from the brand new "Glory," plus at least a single track from six other albums.

No, she's still not much of a singer and it was extremely questionable how often her microphone turned up in the performance mix (if at all), but when it came to choreography and sheer star power, there's only one "Britney B----." Whether unloading the humongous "Womanizer," "Toxic" and "(You Drive Me) Crazy" or collaborating with G-Eazy on "Make Me..." and surprise guest Tinashe for "Slumber Party," it all was a ton of fun, even if her dancing and entertaining abilities far outweigh the quality of those often times studio-sweetened vocals.

Speaking of G-Eazy, he also brought an individual round of hip-hop to the table, while the equally popular duo The Chainsmokers delivered a pulsating set of EDM. The night also featured soulful harmonies and slick dance steps from Fifth Harmony, the R&B-tinted pop of newcomer Alessia Cara and the singer/songwriter stylings of Shawn Mendes (all of whom sported Chicago Cubs jerseys).

Some of the OneRepublic guys did too as they cranked out a boatload of hits ("Apologize," "Good Life," "Counting Stars"), all accompanied by eclectic arrangements periodically adorned by piano and cello. Fellow rhythmic rock band DNCE ran a close second, especially when front man Joe Jonas raced around the seats during the super-charged "Cake By The Ocean," a song so contagious it's sure to stick in concertgoers' heads until the B96 Summer Bash brings another star-studded sampler to the Allstate Arena next year.
