On May 16th, The Magic City Music Hall in Binghamton, NY, was the site of a southern invasion. Lamb of God, along with veteran rockers Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity, made one of two stops slated for New York State. This trio of southern bands brought out legions of their northern fans, filling this large indoor venue.

Hailing from North Carolina, show openers Corrosion of Conformity took to the stage with the sludge rock sounds of the song "Bottom Feeder (El que come Abajo)", then tore straight into "Paranoid Opioid." The band is made up of members Woody Weatherman (lead guitar, backing vocals), Mike Dean (bass, lead vocals), Reed Mullin (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Pepper Keenan (guitar lead vocals), and has a huge, heavy, guitar driven sound. They had the crowd fist pumping and clapping right from the onset, prompting Pepper to comment he had gotten goosebumps from the crowd's energy. Playing favorites like "Albatross," which they dedicated to Clutch, and "Broken Man," they showed that they are still as tight as ever. Corrosion blasted through their 8 song set, priming the crowd for Clutch.

Next up were the mighty Maryland rockers, Clutch, who started their set with "Who Wants to Rock", a song rarely played live. Neil Fallon (guitars and vocals), is the consummate showman, and he interacted with the crowd from start to finish. He is animated and lively, and makes facial expressions like no other. With his growling singing style and superb lyrics, he left nothing to be desired. The rest of the band, Jean-Paul Gaster (Drums), Dan Maines (bass), Tim Sult (Guitar). were very solid. Gaster and Maines are some of the best at holding down the bottom end with rhythm, and they opened the door for Tim to lay his signature guitar sound, which rounded out what people love about Clutch. The guys played their 12 song set including "Minotaur" (another rarely played live song), "The Regulator", and "Noble Savage". Clutch put on a fantastic performance that was enjoyed by everyone from the casual Clutch fans to their die-hard groupies. Their ability as musicians got the crowd heated up for the absolute fury that Lamb of God was about to unleash.

Lamb of God, the heavy metal band who hail from Virginia, headlined the night. Their stage was set with flickering candles in the front and giant LED screens flanking the sides of the stage with even more positioned in the back. Projected on the screens were images of death, destruction, and other nightmarish mayhem that coincided with the lyrics of their songs.

Lamb of God is made up of Randy Blythe (vocals), Mark Morton (guitar), Will Adler (guitar), John Campbell (bass), and Chris Adler (drums). Blythe used all of the stage, never stopping and often tuck jumping from his center riser, feeding from the fervor of the moshing crowd. The energy in the room was intense, elevating the temperature inside to the point that Randy even commented on the heat.

The crowd loved every minute of the Lamb of God show, from the Rick Flair "Whoo!" to the song "Something to Die For", which Randy very poignantly dedicated to the Armed Forces.

The show was fantastic.
