The Black Keys with Arctic Monkeys, plus Fiona Apple and a Cheech & Chong reunion
Monday, March 12, 2012  A Cheech & Chong reunion: No comedic duo is as famous (or infamous) as Cheech & Chong, the irreverent and over the top pair behind eight Hollywood blockbusters and nine albums. This outing marks a rare reunion for Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong (also successful solo stars), but now that they're back together, expect plenty of throwbacks to the hippie era and pot-related jokes. Arena-sized indie rock: It's almost hard to believe two of indie rock's most revered underground bands are now full-fledged superstars, but at least The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys are spreading some much-needed musical muscle to the mainstream. While an arena appearance won't boast the same level of satisfaction of either act's early club visits, the Keys are downright explosive with its blues/rock bent, while Arctic's angular guitar onslaught is sure to reach even the highest rafters. Up close and personal with Fiona Apple: Oddly enough, Fiona Apple is taking the exact opposite approach of the aforementioned double bill, stripping down her normally sizeable show to one of Chicago's coziest clubs. Naturally, this highly sought after appearance sold out in seconds and is sparking mass hysteria in social networking spectrums with overwhelming offers to buy anyone's extra tickets. But as awesome as Apple's alt-rock/baroque pop blend is sure to be, this underplay outing is likely a warm up for a full tour supporting her yet-to-be-titled 2012 release.
