Harper teams with Musselwhite, another talented Townshend, plus Muse's "2nd Law"
Monday, February 25, 2013
Harper teams with Musselwhite: At face value, the collaborative combination of Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite may seem surprising, but when digging deeper into each artist's repertoires, they actually have some points of commonality. For Harper, that's a past that includes everything from blues rock to folk, funk and reggae, while Musselwhite meets him at the blues crossroads, in addition to frequently dabbling with southern rock and country. Sunday, March 3 at Riviera Theatre: www.jamusa.com.
Another talented Townshend: Simon Townshend's resemblance to his brother Pete isn't just physical, but also musical considering he's quite gifted as a guitarist and classic rock-minded solo artist. Though he's touring in support of the new CD "Looking Out Looking In," the younger Townshend is no stranger to Who fans, both as a longtime touring member and frequent axe-slinger for a solo Roger Daltrey. Sunday, March 3 at Martyrs': www.martyrslive.com.
Muse's "2nd Law": Now much more than merely the second coming of Radiohead, Muse has truly earned its spot atop the alternative rock throne. The English trio is currently selling out arenas and stadiums all over the world in support of its sixth studio album "The 2nd Law," which once again finds the innovators experimenting with prog rock, space rock, metal and even classical elements. Monday, March 4 at United Center: www.jamusa.com.
