Neville's classic covers, Alicia Keys and Miguel a must, My Morning Jacket singer solo
Monday, April 15, 2013
Neville's classic covers: As a master interpreter of all styles (pop, soul and gospel to name a few), it's no surprise to see Aaron Neville taking his hand at doo-wop covers throughout his Blue Note Records debut "My True Story." With a little help from Keith Richards on guitar and production, the crooner puts a velvety spin on several harmony-heavy oldies but goodies from the bygone era, which are sure to be in ample supply at this intimate show. Tuesday, April 16 at North Shore Center For The Performing Arts: www.northshorecenter.org.
Alicia Keys and Miguel a must: Not only is Alicia Keys one of the most popular soulful pop sirens of today, but she's also one of the most talented. A veritable force between singing, songwriting and piano playing, she's crafted one of the finest albums of the past year ("Girl On Fire"), which takes center stage on a headline tour with support from the fellow R&B multi-talent Miguel. Thursday, April 18 at United Center: www.ticketmaster.com.
My Morning Jacket singer solo: Hitting the road in support of his first ever solo album "Regions Of Light And Sound Of God" finds Jim James leaning in an even more experimental direction than My Morning Jacket. The project boasts everything from folk to hip-hop, space rock and pretty much everything in between, assuring a variety-filled (if not occasionally erratic) evening of eclecticism. Saturday, April 20 at Vic Theatre: www.jamusa.com.
