Miley all grown up, Strait says goodbye, Kings of Leon reconvene
Monday, March 3, 2014
Miley all grown up: Now that Miley Cyrus is 21, she's shedding her good girl image and giving fellow pop starlets like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Kesha a serious run for their raunch. While the "Bangerz" tour definitely isn't for the Disney crowd, even us older folks can't resist radio dominators like "We Can't Stop," "Wrecking Ball" and "Adore You," which coupled with a tongue slide and plenty more over the top accessories, suggests we're all in for a spectacle. Friday, March 7 at Allstate Arena: www.livenation.com.
Strait says goodbye: So many stars have said goodbye so many times, but 61-year-old country great George Strait insists he's serious. "The Cowboy Rides Away" tour is loaded with all his career crests ("Check Yes Or No," "I Can Still Make Cheyenne," "Run" and "All My Ex's Live In Texas"), and also features an equally formidable opening act in the form of guitar genius Vince Gill. Saturday, March 8 at Allstate Arena: www.ticketmaster.com.
Kings of Leon reconvene: After a three year absence, the self-imposed hiatus is officially over for Kings of Leon, much to delight of garage/alternative rock fans all around the world. Besides releasing the new record "Mechanical Bull," the Followill family is finally hitting the road after 2011's "Come Around Sundown" outing was abruptly aborted in America. Saturday March 8 at United Center: www.ticketmaster.com.
