Vans Warped creator Kevin Lyman decided to create a stripped down version of that now famous punkfest and called it Taste of Chaos. Retaining the spirit and soul of Vans Warped - the first annual winter festival features the best and brightest of nu punk. Taste Of Chaos offers the fans a special opportunity to take part in numerous activities including playing the latest and coolest video games, checking out acoustic band performances, getting autographs signed by their favorite bands, and buy that special rock n' roll trinket. After you're done shopping it's time to check out the music.Senses Fail mix screaming vocals, shredding guitars, booming drums while retainig its core melodies. Killswitch Engage involve blasting metal with epic choruses and diverse metalcore sensibilities - stripping the veneer off of the punk and revealing its throbbing metal heart.
New Jersey quintet, My Chemical Romance, here to support its sophomore album - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge stock is rising quickly. Their music is a combination of strong melodies, bold arrangements, screaming guitars, the successful marriage of emo/punk and catchy choruses that leave the listener sometimes confused, but ultimately satisfied.
Screamo darlings the Used closed the fest by blasting the paint off of such numbers as "Take It Away," "Listening," "I Caught Fire," and "Fake." Slower numbers "On My Own" and "All That I've Got" slowly wormed a hole to our subconscious with lyrics that disarmed with a brutal honesty. Lead singer Bert McCracken and company favor the new realm between metal and punk. Connecting the colliding rhythms with wailing guitars and emotionally driven lyrics that warble between sweet melody and banshee piercing screams. The Used have found a home that few wanted to enter just a few years ago and now can't stop the front door from being kicked in by the masses who have finally noticed the welcome mat.
Yes indeed, emolution has found a home.
