Following the premise of her acoustic release Career Suicide, Lennon's current acoustic tour also gets away from her heavy and somewhat industrial beginnings and certainly isn't what many Lennon fans expected; however, the tour doesn't deserve the same description she gave her album. With her voice and piano bearing all the weight of what a full hard rock band usually helps support, Lennon's straight-forward performance at Shank Hall revealed well-crafted songwriting and a powerful voice, but without much of a kick.Lennon and Curfman Admitting to having a cold and appearing rather road-worn, Lennon's voice, though rough when talking with the crowd, held up well in song. "5:30 Saturday Morning," the title track of Lennon's first release, blended piercing vocals and a catchy piano melody in a crowd-pleasing rock ballad format. "These Days," a more laid back number, also drew a good response from the crowd. Though Lennon used dynamics effectively throughout most of her show, she was ultimately a bit heavy-handed on piano in trying to compensate for the lack of instruments and to provide the extra oomph usually found in her songs.

Much more well-suited for an acoustic spot, 20-year-old guitarist and singer Shannon Curfman, backed by another guitarist, roused a burly blues fire with her bellowing voice and ignitable guitar playing. With boot-stomping blues guitar riffs and impassioned vocals on "Sure As The Sun Is Gonna Rise," Curfman's songwriting and vocal talent reached well beyond her years and demanded attention. Not releasing an album since her debut at age 14, Curfman's dynamic voice alone gives reason to have high expectations for her next album currently in the works.
