Views from the Front 2000
Holiday Girod 11/09/01 It's been quoted that, "writing about music, is like dancing about architecture." With that said, its become apparent that I've stepped on a few sensitive toes with my recent review of Corporate Avenger's latest album "Freedom is a State of Mind."
Let me first state that when I review music, be it metal, punk, blues, country, pop or whatever genre it may be, I base my initial and strongest opinion on the actual music I hear. If the music is good, then I personally don't care what the message is - peace, love, sex, drugs, religion, corn fritters - I really don't care (this, by the way, doesn't always make me the most popular guy at the rock critic's coffee house...jeesh, what a bunch of nerds!) It's just good music. Of course, if the music's good and the lyrics are equally as strong, then all the better.
But when the music is bad, all the prose and cons of Dostoyevsky, Hemingway, Bukowski and Algren couldn't put Humpty together again. It's just bad music.
Case in point, Corporate Avenger. Sure I think their lyrics are [unintentionally] funny as they wallow in a finger-pointing, lofty, self-righteousness, but quite frankly, my dears, I don't give a damn. What I do care about is music, and without going into an in-depth review here, I'm going to trim out the fat and explain my opinion in a way that I'm sure all of my well-voiced critics will understand; The music on "Freedom is a State of Mind" is bad. (Although I readily admit my facts may not always be 100% accurate - whose are? Corporate Avenger's? - one thing I can always take to the bank is my opinion.]
While I fully stand behind the band's right to their freedom of expression, it's their apparent hypocrisy that leaves me scratching my head. From the look of their album cover, which features the band's clown-faced lead singer with a lude sneer of hatred behind a megaphone, it seems like they wanted to make sure that the world could hear their message - loud and clear. With that success under their belt, it seems now that since they've found their audience (or rather an audience has found them) these guys are nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately, many of their newfound 'fan letters' are coming in the form of death threats. But surely this hasn't come as a huge surprise to them. Ever since the dawning of man, blood has been spilt in the name of religion (and although I'll be the first to admit it's not right, it's an unfortunate fact that humans have always had to endure, and probably always will.) Did they think they were immune from a personal war against them with a song title like "The Bible is Bullshit?" Did they think they'd be exempt from hatred by insinuating that Jesus was a homosexual?
Apparently so, because I see that in the wake of their backlash they've postponed their tour and had access to their website temporarily shutdown since the terrorist attacks. That is, until they came up with a kinder and gentler homepage for their site, in which they now claim they, "support and appreciate the sacrifices of the men and women of our armed forces..." Golly, that doesn't sound like the same guys who just sang, "I don't cry when the police die, cuz they probably deserved it. Run around with a badge and gun, and they goddamned f*cked with everyone" on their latest album. If these guys had such strong convictions then, where are their megaphones and hateful sneers now? Seems like available cave space is getting tighter and tighter these days.
As far as I'm concerned, however, these guys can say whatever they'd like, whenever they'd like, and they can even do it with their badass-turned-holier-than-thou humanitarian attitudes. Just try to accompany it with some good music next time, gentlemen.

Corporate Avenger ***en rock! They are the best band ever and I disagree with your opinions of the artists in the band and your feelings on their beliefs and views! Power to the people is just a fantasy and they sell it to us as an American dream! Corporate Avenger! Voting Doesn't Work! Taxes Are Stealing! Christians Murdered Indians, The Bible Is Bullshit! Muah :X

It's only crap if you're a God-fearing right-winger who has bought into the lies society has told you. Claiming they are "posers" trying to be homies, or Limp, or Kid Rock...yeah you really know your stuff! Idiot. All they're doing is spreading what they think is the truth. If they were in it for fame, they wouldn't even be on the Suburban Noize lable (underground by far). They are ten times more intelligent than RATM, they speak what they feel. Corporate Avenger is one of the best underground bands around today, and you're a complete idiot to write them off as posers in it for money.

First of all you don't know what your talking about... all you do is sit here and insult people trying to do what they love and express what they feel and what they think.... "Freedom of speech" am I not right as well as opinion and yes this is your opinion but you don't have to over use the word if your opinion is such as what is above then keep it to yourself cuz these people are obviously good if they have a record deal and are out there making music unlike you who sits at their comp ragging on other people doing something with their lives ... if you don't like the nore their music then that's YOUR choice im sure people have their opinion on you cuz believe you me I could say a couple words that express they way I feel towards you but its MY OPINION and ill keep it to myself ... I don't like a lot of bands but I don't sit here at my comp writing about them and all this other bullshit ... at least they have lives and are doing sumtin with there's again other then insulting other people... I know your jealous and all because your not as talented as corporate avenger its ok.... also you bring up the god thing ....they and many many others sing about their belief's as well as others preach about there's ....that's like ragging on people's religions just because they are not yours doesn't mean their beliefs or that person is wrong maybe if you stopped looking at how they dress which by the way kik's ass because that's like the style right now for teenagers and actually listened to their music and paid attention to the words I'm sure you could relate to something they say and you say that every time you turn around you hear one of these obnoxious bands obviously you must be at least 40 or so because if you didn't know this is the kind of music that's out there sorry if we don't have anymore of your type of music that we the teens or so don't like because its not the music in our time
.... hello McFly there's a big difference ... maybe if ! you took your head out of your ass for just a second that would have r egistered in your head but once again your too busy ragging on bands because you have no life ... I'm sure if I had the time I could take a song from your time and rag on it about the same things your ragging on maybe even more ..... and your the one who's like saying it's wrong what they say about god and shit yet your over here being racist and judging them because they rap or something what do you think that only black people as you call them can rap so then tell every so called "middle-class white boys that foolishly pose as black inner-city homeys." that and see what they say ..... your the one who is acting like that because your the one using words like "homey".... are you black because if your not then don't use those words and if you are black then you should be ashamed of yourself ... not to mention how are they trying to pose as "black inner city homeys" ... they dress the way they want say what they want do what they want .... I wear some of the clothes they wear!
am I trying to be like an "black inner city homey" ... so how exactly are they supposed to sing you know so people like you don't think they are trying to pose as black inner city homeys" anyways ...... that's all I have to say right now but email me back on your opinions of mine unless you know you don't have enough time because your too busy insulting other people.

Sincerely a
BIG FAN OF CORPORATE AVENGER
and many other bands like them
NiCoLe

you are a f*cking fool, if you acualy listen to their lyrics youd understand them, you also have to be open minded. corporate avenger is far from trying to be black you racist ignorant fool. saying anyones trying to be black is racist, a color of people have to act a certain way? boner.

matt 11/05/01
Coperate avenger are about a message they send hope too lots of people out so just lay off them ok.

The Serpent, Nashville, Tn 11/04/01
Review: Try industrial punk instead of rap metal. Then try to understand the fact that they don't seem to be "posing" as "inner-city homeys." If they were then they'd be all "west side" and stuff. To compare them to Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock is down right laughable in it self. Considering they are not hardly even "rapping" in the songs. It's more like yelling, which most rock singers do anyways. Also are they "posing" as "black?" Ummm, yeah, that's why they are talking about being Indian (Native Indian), and talking about tribal ancestry. hmmm.. you weren't too thorough with your research, were you?
Lastly, everyone has their own opinion. Hell, I hate country music with a passion. All they are doing is singing about truths and then opinion. If that bothers people to the point of HATE then that's a problem the people will have to deal with. This is a "free" country, right? However, it costs a hell of a lot to live hear. heh..

Hi, Just wanted to touch with you on a few things. "vocals from middle-class white boys that foolishly pose as black inner-city homeys."

Just wondering what research you did to come up with that? A statement that bold obviously has some backing right? I assume you have talked to these guys or something? Well obviously not or you wouldn't make such a radically incorrect statement. But I guess it shines though out your "review" (I hate to call it that) That you have done little to no research on this band at all. Some examples

1. their second album (FIASOM is the third album)
2. Christians Burning Indians (well you got two of the words right there.)
3. Corporate Avenger have thankfully anchored their misaligned political / religious claptrap to a certain sinking ship. (While that is worded very well)It is incorrect. Corporate Avenger is selling as many CDs as most popular punk rock bands (being that they are a punk band and not a shit core band like you seem to think they are) right now (see bad religion, pennywise, the bouncing souls) maybe a little more. I understand as a "reviewer" (I guess) you have to take an album by its own merit, but I also have to say these guys aren't in it for making music. If you listen to the other albums the music is completely different. They have no desire for money or fame. They have a message. A message of peace and hope is in all of there songs, That is what there in it for. In the hope that people will listen and know they have been lied to, and know there is more to this wonder full existence than what we have been forced to belive. I don't know man, sorry for being harsh but bashing something with such a positive message is hard for me to tolerate. Also sorry if the dumb ass that posted your e-mail address on his web site (www.weboflies.net) has caused you much spa m. He is in fact... a complete moron.

Review: I gotta say, I just stumbled upon the review of The Urge latest album 'Too Much Stereo', and completely disagree. It sounded as though the writer heard a rumor that The Urge was reggae and bought the album hoping for melodies a la Steel Pulse, and rhythms out of a Black Uhuru songbook. Don't expect that with The Urge, and therefore don't compare them to that. This album (and their live show) is more than simply ska, or reggae or hard rock. Ironically their old album 'Master of Styles' is quite a misnomer as it is nearly impossible to identify their sound. All of the above are certainly present at times, as is funk, soul, even a little metal at times. It all blends smooth as butter. This is one CD (and there are few) that I have been able to listen to over and over and over and pick out new things each time, and it never gets stagnant. Don't even listen to this album with preconceived notions. Just because the singer is black, don't expect reggae or rap. Just be!
cause there are horns on some tracks, don't expect 'ska'. Just because the guitar is distorted at times don't expect Metallica. Sit back and listen to what this platter is...a collection of songs that clearly the musicians put actual effort into writing, and performing.

The Rave was a great place to see the young and upcoming band Lifehouse perform. It's a place that me and my buddies like to go and spend the weekend bumming around Milwaukee. Firstly, Jason Wade has got rock 'n roll charisma. His lyrics are intense and very personal. The band backs him up with straight ahead, kick-ass rock n' roll. "Hanging By Moment" was poignant and sweet. Oh, Lifehouse come back to the Rave again soon.

Orson Smells, Wilmont, WI 10/02/01
artist: Two Dog Nite
venue: Kenosha Co. Fair - Fall 2001

Review: Huddled in the chilly night, hundreds of baby-boomers, complete with thinning hair and beer bellies, sat waiting in the grandstands for a chance to relive old acid trips and bong induced memories with 70's rock icons Three Dog Night. (Or more accurately "Two Dog Nite", as founding member and primary lead singer on many of the hits - Chuck Negron - having squandered his fortune, pawned his gold records, reduced to sleeping on the streets - has "found" religion and is now pressing mighty litigation against the remaining members.) Married couples fondly remembered wild nights in the back of day glo VW vans while attempting to comfort their restless kids with gee-whiz comments like "No, really - you'll like these guys!" Meanwhile, a look in the eyes communicated an unspoken prayer amongst the elders gathered - "Please don't let these guys suck. I've had enough good memories go south on me. Don't let these guys go Las Vegas on me!"
Considering the aforementioned absence of Mr. Negron, and their underated original 70's rhythm section from the tour, the reasons for doubting were obvious. And the creeping effects of advancing age - so apparent in the double chins and gray ponytails in the crowd - could be the kiss of death for a group as reliant on singers as the Dogs are. Would Cory Wells and Danny Hutton retain some semblance of their youthful voices, or would they crack like cheap porcelain dropped on cement?
Fortunately, the Doggies delivered and saved the old-timers from embarrassment by presenting an evening of (as in the Frank Zappa produced Grand Funk Railroad album title) - "Good Singin', Good Playin'" And good sound too - as the mixing engineers deserve a pat on the back for creating a sonic environment that while not over-produced, never veered into the usual county fair/outdoor venue mud and feedback.
The leads sang with voices which although mellower in tone, still were powerful and always on key. In fact, they sounded better than they did in their earlier days (there is the famous story of the boys being fired early in their career by the rock group "Mountain" because they always sang sharp). Their current bass player deserves credit as well for handling the Negron harmonies, which, although not as distinctive as the original's were, are essential to the infamous three part vocal harmony sound.
Running through a basic set of their hits (how nice to be able to fall back on such a catalog!) - they embraced such crowd pleasers as "Black and White" and "Joy to the World" with an abundance of good will. Seemingly enjoying themselves, the singers allowed the band free reign to cut loose on songs such as "Liar", which reminded everyone how the musicians in the band were once grooved into the Deep Purple/Iron Butterfly scene, before the achieved success, got lazy, and were lumped in with the Sonny and Chers of the world.
Cory Wells handled most of the Chuck Negron leads - delivering a hint of the snarling desperation that made "The Show Must Go On" such a hit. But it was on his signature tunes "Never Been to Spain", "Sure As I'm Sitting Here" and "Mama Told Me Not to Come" that he really showed his loyalties to a hybrid cornfed soul. Hutton, the former show tune singer, has a pretty voice, but lacks the grit of the former. His forte in filling out harmonies, however; more than makes up for his somewhat bland leads.
By the time the set had finished, and the quick encore concluded as a thunder storm rolled in behind the stage, (a young boy asked his mother if the lightning was part of the show) the crowd had been satiated and rushed to the exit to avoid the rain. Feeling happy with fond rememberences of a younger and more innocent time, I'm sure many wished that the band could resolve their differences and reunite with the born again Chuck Negron back in the fold, but alas the division and bitterness seems too deep rooted. With the songs of love and peace still humming in many heads, the crowd emptied into the midway where they were confronted with angry youths milling about looking for trouble accompanied by pounding metal and rap music. As I sadly surveyed the scene, I asked my nearly teenaged son if he liked the concert. He responded that they had "one good song" - the rocker "One". An anthem to loneliness driven by a repetitive aggressive guitar and howling vocals. Loneliness -! an emotion as timeless as love and fear. One song? It's a start!

By the way, I figured that many of your employees were working for publication/credit lines, since you are a young and growing website. That is how many publications like the Chicago Reader got and probably still gets many of its contributors. It is just one of the signs of your website's success and I simply hope that, that success continues for you.
Like everyone else, I was shocked and sickened by the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01, but very fearful of our current leader's reaction or overreaction to it. It looks like, to me, that we are headed into another world war with President Death (George Bush) running the country. It truly is amazing that in the short time that he has been president, that first the economy goes to Hell and now we are in "The First War of The 21st Century." God help use!! No matter what happens from this point on, the future for our country and the world doesn't look good. All the social/welfare programs for education, medicare, social security, etc., are now all thrown away and every penny will be spent on the military and defense. I'm really fearful of American Fascism raising it's ugly head again, like it did in the MacCarthy Era. I hope I'm wrong and that we, in the act of fighting our enemies, do not become more like our enemies.
On that cheerful note, I'll bid you all good-bye.

Madonna was right on! She still looks great even though she's 42 years old. I don't mind she only played two old hits. I think her best two albums are Music and Ray of Light. So "screw you" to all the old fart critics!

doggiegirl you don't know shit. Russell Crowe is a big fat faggot. He can't act, he can't sing so f*ck off with your pussy review!!

Mile Houlihan 8/30/01
Hey Phil,
Just a suggestion, but next time your're going to be mugging for the live TV cameras...as we saw you outside the UC during the Madonna show ...ditch the dagotee for a CONCERTLIVERWIRE.COM T-Shirt. A little free pub can't hurt!

ps: The new camera strap looks good.

xrayx, concertlivewire.com 8/19/01 Another satisfied reader!
If you've ever really been to Alpine Valley you might know that they have a huge section called "lawn seats" which consist of no seats, just lawn. Our writer can assure you that the moshers were right there in the mud in the front portion of the "lawn seats."
Don't drink so much next time.
Feel free to come back and share your thoughtful and insightful comments anytime
Cheers

deftones_guitarist, 8/19/01
Hey who was the f*cking moron who wrote the deftones review!! I was there and there were no moshers there. They only have seats there! Get your facts straight dumbass! Stop trying to be Rolling Stone. Your f*cking website Suuuucks!

Ken, down south 8/18/01
Hey guys the site is excellent! It was great talking to Tony the other day and finally hearing and seeing, on your site that you guys are doing what you were born to do.

Linda, Elkhorn 8/18/01
Hey, really cool site! Music dorks love you, I bet!

Hammer, Illinois 8/18/01
Hey, you are doing a great job with the website. You take some pretty good kickass photos! I got a kick outta your Nikon story on your webpage messages area. That's a well traveled piece of equipment! Yeah, Marino was smokin at the HOB. Seems to have got better with age, but the number of 15+ minute songs got kind of tedious after a while. Can't complain about the guitar work though.

johnjohn 8/16/01
I'm back and ready fer y'all.I was in South America checkin' out the Indians. No tee pees, no arrowheads, just love of the land.

phil b, concertlivewire.com 8/13/01 Unfortunetly, I've heard Yes way too many times.
Maybe if I've never heard of them before I would've been impressed with the 50 piece orchestra. Sorry, that was the only thing that impressed me.
When you suck - you suck.

Sarah Mekan, New Orleans 8/12/01
Hey, Mr. Bonyata
Your review of Yes sucked! What the hell do you know about music annyway?? I'm so sorry that you never listened to their albums before. It was probably the first time you ever heard of them. Isn't it!!??!!! What DO you like - N Sync? I thought so. Listen to the music next time before you review them.

venue: Grant Park Aug. 1st
city: Chicago,Ill.
Review:
I just want to let the journalist wh oworte the article for the Radiohead concert had a few points wrong in their article. First of all there was no real lake wind cooling us concert goers off. It was damn hot all the time, no relief came to us, not even the $4 buck a bottle of warm water. Next, Thom dedicated "Parinod Android" to the moon, not the Paramid Song. THe story was a rare moment for Thom to try nad bond with the audience. There were highlights that weren't even mentioned! I think your readers would have been impressed with the fact that Thom led a sing along with all 25,000 fans to "Fake Plastic Trees."
Also, the song "True Love Waits" was a song that has only been performed live 3 other times in this whole wide world! That's a big deal. I felt the article hit a few high points but left out crucial parts that should have been expressed in the review. The fans who missed out are reading this article and I think that they were denigned these facts. Also, there are other fans that did attend the concert who would be thinking, "Hey thatts' not right." Now I'm no journalist, maybe the writer was rushed for a deadline, so I'm not too bothered, but I think the tibits of info I have put into this rant should be shared with the fans!
Thanks.

Phil (photographer), concertlivewire.com 8/04/01 Oh, Stevie Styles! Sure my camera strap broke, but good old Nikon stuff still rules. A little bit of Krazy glue and a lot of electical tape has this boy's back in business. Oh, the battle scars that camera has endured in the last 10 years:

Mauled by a drugged up tiger, trampled by an Arabian horse, dropped from a second story building at Disney, hit with a bat at a baseball game, knocked out of my hands by a diving Patrick Ewing at an NBA game on the floor, dropped at the side of railroad tracks trying to get a low shot while on the moving car, hit in the body, with my face behind it, at a KKK rally, maced at another KKK rally, kicked off the stage by Fred Durst (when I stupidly left it there), stolen and recovered, with no lens, at a park by cop who had the MO on the stolen camera, left out all night in the freezing cold to record Hale-Bopp in a 12 hour time lapse, after getting rained on at Summerfest had Mark from "American Movie" dry it off and hunch over it to protect it from the crying skies, Bill Murray grabbing it out of my hands and demanding to take family portraits (at the filming of "Groundhog Day"), had a migrant farm worker drop it in the path of an oncoming tiller (it left a couple of pictures behind), seen breasts that would take your breath away, dropped in elephant shit at a circus, thrown in the 8 foot section of an empty pool by my then young daughter, heavily buried in an ant farm with flash units to record the path of the queen, secured on top of a speeding cop car to record arrests, juiced up with wine spray at a homemade winery, in a coffin and freshly dug grave (to record the life of a gravedigger), on an unsuccessful kite ride to the ground, recorded President Bush (the first one), Michael Jordan, Mick and all the other rock stars, murderers, rapists, drug addicts and other f**ked up people, it's been stepped on, peed on, spat on, drinks spilled on. Yes, indeed, this camera is my friend.

This was cool to write as I jog my memory and document what all the f**king shit me and this camera has been through. Bruised and battered we're both ready for more!

Review: This concert was amazing, just as all the others on this 35th aniversary tour have been. This particular concert was after a baseball game, and they had another one to go to in Atlantic city, so this one was only an hour long but what an hour!! :) I urge all of you to go and check them out! You can find tour info at

Living in the Chicago area (a hot bed for local comedy talent), I could provide weekly material to our site. Please see my portfolio list below and if you think this is as good an idea as I do, I could povide you with more information about myself as well as show you my work in greater detail.

xrayx, concertlivewire.com 7/19/01 Yes, Mike we are looking for freelance photographers and writers to cover concerts in the Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago areas. We cannot pay you right now as we are a very young company , but we'll get you into the shows for free with usually very good seats. Send over sample photos or sample concert reviews and let's talk. We're looking for quality journalists, don't need an edcation just talent and a passion for rock n' roll. xrayx More Info: Contact Us

Mike Kline 7/18/01 I was checking out your website....very cool. I actually had a question. I do alot ... of concert photography on the east and wanted to talk to you about doing some things with you. I actually would love to contribute to your site if possible ... and possibly shoot some shows under you company as well.

johnjohn 7/15/01 I'll think about it, blueboy. keep in touch. ;)

Toby, Chicago 7/13/01 David Byrne, Chicago, IL
Byrne certainly did bring down the house. With newer and eclectic music coupled with the Heads material truly made for a special evening!

GreekmanPeter, Chicago, IL 7/13/01 Just checked out livewire.com! Awesome!!!!!!! You and your brother Tony have created a great site. From the site name, to the style of type, to the great documentary concert photos and portraits of the bands and musicians (shot by a soon to become famous, former photography student of mine), to the intelligent and articulate interviews and reviews, to the "music dorks love us" logo - you and Tony have created a slick and professional looking web-site of pages with great design, photos and animations. Phil, I am really impressed (but not surprised) that you were able to conceive and create this site with only your brother to help. It's really neat that you are able to go to these concerts and photograph and review all the famous musicians that you have, so far.
If you ever need anyone extra to shoot and edit video for your site, don't forget your old teacher.) Congratulations on your success!

Jennifer Olsen Waukesha, WI 7/10.01 Bon Jovi, Marcus Amphitheater, Milwaukee July 8
Jon Bon jovi was hot, hot, hot! The band cracked the whip and got the masses into a frenzy every time he shook his butt! With songs like "Livin' on a Prayer" Richie Sambora lit into his guitar and scorched the first few rows of the audience. Go see these hotties from New Jersey. They still got it!

blueboy 7/5/01 Oh well at least you might consider it.

blueboy 6/29/01 You're too kind I was only hoping for the outhouse, johnjohn!

Jim Ream Palatine, IL 6/26/01 Depeche Mode, Milwaukee
I thought Depeche Mode wasn't as good as a couple of years ago. They brought a kind of robotic get it over with attitude. I want my money back!

johnjohn 6/25/01 You couldn't "meaure up" to be my boyfriend. I'll consider you for my bitch. Give you a room in the basement and feed you dog food. The gourmet kind of course!

alisa, 6/21/01 Ozzfest 2001 June 9 2001, Alpine Valley.
Review: well i hate to, but i completely disagree with the review of ozzfest. You must have sent a pop-loving, mothers boy to the show. I mean who ever wrote the review has no obvious insight to either the bands or even the genre of music itself. Send a real metal lover next time, take that guy to an Nsync concert where he belongs. -alisa (a real, living, breathin OZZfest enjoying, rocker girl.)

blueboy, anywhere, USA 6/18/01 I see what your up to johnjohn. I'll be your boyfriend if you're cute enough!

Jill Olsen, Wheeling, IL 6/11/01 Chicago Bluesfest Honeyboy Edwards June 7, 2001
Honey is the last link to the delta Blues. His raw and heartfelt playing and vocals won't be around much longer so catch him while you can! Along with John Lee Hooker and others

Sally, Milwaukee 6/10/01 I love the james Brown interview and review. Great job Tony. Are you going to be at the Summerfest show?

Mike, Barrington.IL 5/27/01 David Bryne, Sunday 5.20 Park West. Chicago.

johnjohn 5/25/01 All is forgotten right billy? I think you're a real nice guy. NOT. Oops, did I date myself?
Well now, isn't that speeecial!

Stacey Mahoney Clinton, WI 5/20/01 David Byrne, Park West, Chicago
David doesn't need the Talking Heads anymore as evidenced by his performance aty the Park West last week. His music has taken the natural evolution of a genuis on the rise. His mecurial and eclectic style of songwriting only benefits mankind!

xrayx concertlivewire.com 5/15.01 You betcha, blonde. We'll be there.

Mike, Elkhorn WI 5/6/01 Mr. Bonyata, (and I call you that because it seems that now that you've come face to face with Mr. Brown your world is complete)
I too was at the HOB Furs opening show and throughly enjoyed my trip down memory lane. Let us who are stuck in the 80's...when music was at it best...be stuck in peace!
ps: did you run out of film after two shots? Could we see some more photos next time?

mandy, Milwaukee 5/2/01 When are u guys going to join the 21st century and have streaming video, intricate flash animation, live web radio feeds, free MP3 downloads and live video chats? Just a little advice.

billybrag Milton, WI 4/15/01 Hey Phil and johnjohn, you idiots, what are you guys friends or the same person. Which is it? Yes, I am a man, but a man not afraid to show off his feminine side. I like walks in the park, holding hands, singing in the shower, long passionate kisses and old romantic movies and Simon LeBon's tight ass!

johnjohn 4/14/01 I could understand why stupid women might like Duran Duran, but billy don't act like a p*ssy. Get some balls and listen to some real music. Uh, you are a man, right?
If not forget I was ever here.

Phil, photographer, concetlivewire.com 4/12/01 Hey billy I'm sorry you feel that way. Were you one of the same protestors picketing in front of movie theaters when they showed "The Last Temptation of Christ" and you never saw the film. be informed before you spout off big boy.

Mike Burnett Milwaukee, WI 4/4/01 Joe Jackson at the The Riverside Milwaukee, WI
Joe Jackson, looking older and tad bit emaciated, held court for his nearly sold out performance at the Riverside. he hasn't lost a bit of his wit and sardonic charm. The show was a m ust for all Joe Jackson fans out there!

johnq 3/16/01 No offense big mama. Still want a nice lookin' thin girl though. I know your reply was a weak attempt at picking me up. Sorry I'm not available.

p 3/12/01 Saw ICP at the Rave a few nights ago. Like your review, but disagree with you on one point! There music f does have substance. It's not just the greasepaint and Faygo. You must listen to the message a bit closer!

John Taylor Orlando, FL 3/11/01 Coming up to Chicago next week. Found your site on Yahoo!. Just want to drop a line that it made my musical plans work out great. Love the seating charts!

Steve Junior 2/15/01 howdy good sir, just steve junior here. I was just bouncing around on that ol' internet and decided to send you a email, the website looks great I woulda emailed you earlier but things have been hectic. you have more stuff on there than I could shake a stick at. so I thought would let you know how impressed I am. jeez I am sooooo booored I have been working as a substitute teacher and it is the most insipid job, working with a bunch of arrogant teenagers. now I know what I jerk I must have been. well I have to jet I have to go eat a fine lunch in the cafeteria

monkeyboy, 2/13/01 I went to the Backstreet Boys at the Allsate Arena last night. I saw the faces of the future of rock n' roll! Their music made my heart and soul flutter with a newfound lust for life!! Go see these genuises before they're no more - like Nirvana!
What are you flippin' crazy.
Had ya'll going!
Just kidding. Ha Ha

Belinda, New Berlin 2/08/01 I'm aiming my arrow at you guys. You're missing out on too many concerts, although what you cover you do very well. get off the couch!

Belinda, New Berlin 2/06/01 Phil, I liked your Green Day review. You had me goin' at first that you might not like them then you hit the nail on the head at the end. See ya at the Rave!

rocknroller3, Darien, WI 2/02/01 Disturbed, Metro, last month. I was totally stupified these homegrown boys r the new face of metal. Watch out Ozzy and all u oldtimers ur day HAS come!

rocknroller3, Fon du Lac 1/29/01 man how do you get a job doing this stuff. I mean I would kill for a chance to review concerts. Anywhere! Anytime! Enclosed you will find my not so extensive resume. please consider.

Tracy Chapman, Libertyville, IL 1/28/01 No I'm not the famous one, but I do look a lot like your photo of Tracy on the Tibetan freedom concert page. Go figure.

slingblade, somewhere 1/22/01 Do u have rock n' roll movie reviews because I think u should have rock n' roll movie reviews!

geoffrey, Chicago 1/18/01 Smashing Pumpkins final show! I noticed you're Pumpkin reviews on your site. I thought they were pretty good, but too bad you couldn't make it to the metro show on that magical last night. Billy and the band played their souls out for 4 and 1/2 hours. it was pure magic! I've never felt such a vibe and cammraderie among the fans and the band. I was truly fortunate to witness first hand rock n' roll history!

Renee Carlton Chicago, IL 1/18/01 You're review of Aretha franklin was succulent! You we're very lucky to see her in concert! blonde you have no CLASS!

Jerry, Barrington, IL 1/14/01 How could you possibly overlook The Cure's BLOODFLOWERS as one of the top 10 albums of 2000. Or were you just talking about numbers 2-11???

monkeyboy 1/8/01 I was at the Alice Cooper show at the Rave last summer. Marilyn Manson owes him nothing!

blondej13 1/7/01 Aretha Franklin sucks!

Brad W., Twin Lakes, WI 1/04/01 Great interview with David Sylvain!!! One of my favorite artists and a very interesting person indeed.
Great site!!! Very impressive!!!

Belinda, New Berlin, Crystal Lake, IL 12/26/00 I agree with blonde the Barenaked Ladies really do sucK!

blondej13, Crystal Lake, IL 12/20/00 The Barenaked Ladies sucK!

Belinda, New Berlin, WI 12/16/00 Why don't you have more people chatting?

pauliep, Wisconsin 12/15/00 When r u guys gettin' more tickets up on ticket swap? It's a great idea u just need more traffic!

xrayx, ConcertLivewire Web Designer 12/11/00 Thanks for the feedabck y'all. Hope to hear more compliments and cut downs. We can deal with it (I think). Keep 'em coming. Have a rock'n roll Christmas!

Belinda, New Berlin, WI 12/7/00 Wallflowers at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee. I saw the same show you guys reviewed. I agree with most of it but why does every reviewer have to always compare Jakob to his father. I mean get over it. If you would just listen to the Wallfowers music you should see it stands on its own merit. The only comparison that should be made to his dad is he got the smart and creative genes too!

pumpdepump, Chicago, IL 12/5/00 I have to say that Limp Bizkit was by far the best concert I've ever been too!.Durst is hot and he doesn't bullshit around. He says it like it is and the music is one hard kick ass drive to hell. They'll get their artistic due in timely fashion or you can go to hell if you don't believe me!

stazy, somewhere USA 12/4/00 Whew, just got back from a Marilyn Manson show. What a cool new gothic look! looks better than antichrist and mechanincal androgyny. Songs off Holywood were hard and intense. Manson pleading for acceptance throughout! Sweet Dreams and Beautiful People spilled all the old rage in a fresh and exciting way. The stage looked like a twisted carnival for the damned. See marilyn now because I believe he is in his artisitic puke, sorry peak!

Hollie Olsen, Lake Geneva 11/28/00 I saw Backstreet Boys last summer in Illinois and still say they're better than N Sync. They were there first and N Sync copied them. Everybody forgets that.

Paul 11/26/00 Love the marilyn pics and review! You guys are getting into all the A shows! keep up the good work.

Jenni, Genoa City, Wi 11/21/00 I went to that same 'N Sync show that u did. I think your review wals biased because you're old and don't understand what us teenagers like!

i. pop 11/12/00 As a practicing musician, I feel a great omission on one of my greatest influences on the voting function of your website. My friend, David Jones, and I both feel that The Who are not only huge influences on our ideas, but on many artists. They are afraid to admit Pete Towndshend's genius due to the Tommy stigmata. Yes Tommy blew, but many of us have stolen other great ideas Pete has had. My friend David used the cross dressing from "I'm a Boy" in his stage act for a few years, and I adopted Pete's godfather of punk attitude as part my my schtick. Again, I feel a great injustice has been done, but that's just my opinion.

Pat Mastelotto, KING CRIMSON 11/5/00 I made it over and read your articles. Over all its great! I won't hesitate sending others over to read it.

Geri, Waukegan 11/4/00 Great job on the Bizkit reviews and photos. Next time please use your telephoto lens.

Mark, Chicago 11/2/00 Thank you for the timely report on Paul Weller. I can only assume this helps explain the sudden cancellation of the Chicago show in Oct. which left thousands of Weller/Jam fans devastated. Thank God it appears he will be cleared of this obvious attempt at frivilous slander.

ps: I really enjoy your website

Brian Franzene, Lake Geneva, WI 10/27/00 A friend called me with your site address so I checked it out briefly over lunch. It really looks great. I will spread the word. The other person here who checked it out was very impressed also. Best of luck!!!!!!

Mike Houlihan, Illinois 10/25/00 Have you thought of dedicating one link to a Cure page only...I would have to believe that your readership would double overnight. Your thoughts.
