State Capitol - Madison, WI |
Bruce Springsteen |
Review and Photos by Matt Schwenke
Filling up the streets with more than 80,000 people, John Kerry's rally near the capitol in Madison featured Chris Shiflett and Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and the "Boss," Bruce Springstein. Not only have big-name artists officially endorsed candidates in events like these, many musicians have gotten involved in getting people to vote without pushing a political party or candidate-- P Diddy's campaign for example.
It would be impossible to tell how many people actually came to this rally in the streets in support of only John Kerry or the Democratic party, but there must have been some Republicans, Independents or non-voters in "sheep's clothing" there just to see Grohl and Springstein as music fans-- even though the Foo Fighters played three songs and the "Boss" just two with spare, yet passionate versions of "The Promised Land" and "No Surrender." So, no matter which way you stand (or fall) on the political spectrum, the broader message should ring loud and clear;
GO VOTE, GO VOTE, GO VOTE!!!
