#1: ALice Cooper #2: Black Sabbath #3: AC/DC #4: The Sex Pistols #5: David Bowie #6: The Kinks #7: Pink FLoyd #8: Beatles #9: Jimi Hendrix #10: Elvis Presley

Review: 1. ALice Cooper takes takes first place. Cooper invented shock. He was the first goth on stage and was highly influential for many other artists after him. Here is a list of names of who he had an influence on : Kiss, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, the New York Dolls, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Iggy & The Stooges, Mötley Crüe, Lou Reed, Hanoi Rocks, Boy George, Slade, Parliament-Funkadelic, The Tubes, T. Rex, Elton John, The Runaways, Guns N' Roses, Gary Glitter, Aerosmith, the Dead Boys, Adam Ant, Poison, Prince, the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Twisted Sister, Devo, Megadeth, the Plasmatics, Madonna, Gwar, Cheap Trick, Zodiac Mindwarp, Alien Sex Fiend, W.A.S.P., The Rolling Stones, The Cramps, Rob Zombie, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, or even Elvis.
2. Has to Black Sabbath. sabbath is renound for being the original inventors of Heavy metal. There is no way a liat of the most influential artists could leave Sabbath out. ALl heavy metal bands owe their career to Sabbath.
3. AC/DC with their outragous act and, in the early days Angus stripping on stage. AC/DC is the purest form of rock music there is and ever will be. Their whole attitude of doing whatever you want and enjoying life is what made them so brilliant. AC/DC were and remain the only major successful band from Australia, 150 million albums sold. They perfected pub rock, but they fit into all forms of rock music, including punk heavy metal blues rock and hard rock as welll as others. Theri whole stage act and carelessness for authority led into other bands creating punk and other genres, such as having an influence on teh sex pistols.
4. The Sex Pistols come in at four becuase they invented the punk genre. Since their original succes there have been countless punk bands and punk continues to be successful today. However, in spite of being the creaters of punk there are few bands, that classify as punk, that have been able to bring back the same raw attitude and agression on stage as the Sex Pistols did. The Sex Pistols also had an effect in starting a whole fashion trend, with mowhawks and wierd piercings. Therefore, they deserve a place being one of the most influential artists of all time.
5. David Bowie was able to dress up in outragious costumes and sing great music that captivated his audiences. He was seen as starting the glam rock, but even he owes this to Alice Cooper. Bowies outragious act is still seen by many modern artists as influencing the music industry. Bands that started before him even respect Bowie as influencing their acts, such as the Rolling stones.
6. Who could forget the Kinks. The Kinks are thought to have been largely an influence on Heavy Metal music. In their time they were seen as outragious and heavy. Therefore, for their influence on heavy music and other genres they have earnt their place as one of the most influential bands ever.
7. Pink FLoyd's phsychadelic music and emotionally powerful guitar solo's are so brilliant. No artist could create anything that sounded so deep. their messages in their songs are also deep and their songs lyrics are mostly metaphoric, which no other band has been able to re-create these types of sounds with perfection.

#1: Bob Dylan #2: Beatles #3: Elvis Prestley #4: Rolling Stones #5: Jimi Hendrix #6: The Who #7: Led Zeppelin #8: Stevie Wonder #9: Woody Guthrie #10: David Bowie

Review: These are all ones that had a huge influence not just then and in present time, but huge influences on other artists as well. These are all still very popular artists in the 21st century, with maybe an exception of Woody. However, Guthrie was a huge influence on the more popular artists like Bob Dylan. ANd Bob dylan is number one because i feel he had a huge influence on Beatles getting more serious.

#1: THE BEATLES #2: ROLLING STONES #3: CREAM #4: BOB DYLAN #5: GRATEFUL DEAD #6: JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE #7: JEFF BECK GROUP #8: BLACK SABBATH #9: VAN HALEN #10: PINK FLOYD

1) The Beatles wasn't the first "Beat" group, but they do it better, more interesting, the most important reference to other groups.
2) Rolling Stones started with Beatles and black music and definitely put "fire" in rock.
3)Cream was the modern concept of "Rock Group", no dubt!
4) Bob Dylan influenced in many ways. In lyrics, in text, in music, in life and...I can go on!
5) Grateful Dead was the most important jam band of the '60. Yes, other groups made jams in the period, but no so choral as they. They influenced groups, that influenced groups! After they: "The Allman Brothers", "Johnny Winter And.." "Iron Maiden", "Metallica"....
6) Experience was the "Cream" of psichedelic. Jimi of course was the most important member, but the group runs and influenced a lot.
7) The Jeff Beck Group was the modern concept of "Hard & Heavy", it's not a secret that "Led Zeppelin" was influenced by JBG.
8) Black Sabbath was really the "FIRST" Heavy Metal band in the modern sense. The list of the influence is really, really long....
9) Van Halen, not only Eddie (the modern guitar virtuoso) but also the music changed after them. Today all Heavy groups are influenced by Black Sabbath and Van Halen.........a great cocktail!
10) Pink Floyd? Can you tell me when the "Progressive Rock" born? I have a date. In 1967, with "The Piper at The Gates of Dawn". Other groups are variations of the original.
MARCO, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
#1: JIMI HENDRIX #2: ERIC CLAPTON #3: JEFF BECK #4: DUANE ALLMAN #5: ROBERT JOHNSON #6: RY COODER #7: B.B. KING #8: EDDIE VAN HALEN #9: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN #10: JIMMY PAGE

Review: 1)Hendrix create the "Guitar Sound", he started from black & white influences to create a totally new style, and influenced more than everyone else.
2)Eric Clapton is probably the best white bluesman never existed, his works with "Cream" opened the door for a thousand of other groups, he was one of the first to introduce distorsions and Wha-Wha pedal in rock music.
3)Jeff Beck after Hendrix was the major guitar innovator in the last 50 years, his style was totally new, when he was the guitarist with "Yardbirds", his feedback influenced a lot of players. Hendrix was influenced by him too (in his first period).
4)Duane Allman was the father of modern slide. Every slide-guitar player have some in common with him. He definitely give the slide guitar a great recognition.
5)Robert Johnson is the father of all acoustic blues, he influenced a lot peoples like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix.
6)Ry Cooder is a great reference for all acoustic slide players. He influenced acoustic & electric slidemen, folk and electric musicians.
7)B.B. King is "The Blues Guitar", without him there isn't any "modern electric blues".
8)Eddie Van Halen introduced a new vision of "Virtuosity". His sound and style is what we can hear in all guitar virtuoso today, from Malmsteen to Buckethead.
9)Steve Ray Vaughan give a new life to Blues and R&B, his example can be heard in all blues-rock guitarists after 1983-1984.
10)Jimmy Page create what we call "Hard & Heavy" sound, he was capable of great riffs as great lead solos and blues-style. He started Led Zeppelin with the "Jeff Beck Group" in mind to create a definitive sound, that influenced "Black Sabbath" and "Guns 'n' Roses" among others.

Review: Your list is pretty well organized, but you forgot one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Kurt Cobain. During his time and even after, he has influenced the greatest number of disturbed youth, such as me. You also forgot the greatest indie punk band, Sonic Youth. Anyway, they all influenced me and probably influenced the way I write my music the most. Till we meet, Adieu

Review: Hendrix was the best of the best and still is even though his dead. The Doors broke down the doors of perception. Romeo void because in the 80's they continued where the doors left off. Danzig because of his Robert Johnson approach to Punk, Hard Rock, and Acid Metal. Living Colour because the band is just tight. John Lee Hooker because he's the only cat that sounded like a whole band when he played. Buddy Guy because he's second only to Hendrix when it comes to playing guitar. Then there is Sandy Saraya she sang like an angel. Most people probably don't know who she is but if they did they'd be plesently suprized. P.J. Harvey because she's the undisputed Queen of alternative rock. And at number 10 the King of the blues himself B.B.King, some of the best guitar on the planet! Nuff Said

Review: Look, I ain't gonna type up a long explanation, because it's obvious that that's just how it is. I'm not here to put my favourite rock artists in some order, even though I love all of these guys, but I put down these rock ICONS in an order which I thought was appropriate to the big impact they had on rock music, that's still timeless today. These people go down in the history of rock music, if anyone says any different--they suck and should go back to listening to the Linkin Park and Jay-Z duet. My opinion is the shit.

#1: Bob Dylan #2: The Beatles #3: Grateful Dead #4: Led Zeppelin #5: Velvet Underground #6: The Clash #7: The Who #8: The Band #9: Eric Clapton (Derek and the Dominos, Cream, The Yardbirds...) #10: The Beach Boys

Review: Bob Dylan started the political counterculture movement of the 60s through his music. The Beatles revolutionized studio music as well as influencing almost every modern band. The Grateful Dead are the quintessential California hippie band, with awesome talent as well. Everyone recognizes Zeppelin and every guitar player knows Stairway. The Velvet Underground influenced so many genres of music and individual musicians that they can't be left off. The Clash were punk with out the lack luster lyrics of the Sex Pistols and more complexity and skill than the Ramones. The Who made power chords popular and started the whole rock opera thing with Tommy. The Band kept folk and bluegrass influence in rock alive. I couldn't decide whether to just put Clapton or one of his bands...I also think Duane Allman should be in this category for his work on the Layla album. The Beach Boys started out as a chiefly vocal surfer music group, with Brian Wilson as the only really tal!
ented intrument player, but challenged studio techniques with the album Pet Sounds. I also should mention Sex Pistols, Stones, Hendrix, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, The Faces, The Youngbloods, Ten Years After, Janis Joplin, MC5, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Frank Sinatra, Roy Orbison, Aretha Franklin, The Animals, Blue Oyster Cult, CCR, Sha Na Na, Flying Burrito Brothers, The Isley Brothers, Kingston Trio, REM, U2, CSN&Y, Bob Marley and the Wailers, oh goodness someone shut me up...

#1: Beatles #2: Rolling Stones #3: Elvis #4: Nirvana #5: Led Zeppelin #6: Run DMC #7: Metallica #8: Red Hot Chili Peppers #9: Rage Against the Machine #10: Michael Jackson

Review: 1. Beatles because they are the band that made rock into the huge phenomenon it is today 2. Stones because they turned rock to a deeper level 3. Elvis because he was basically the founder of rock n roll 4.Nirvana because they revolutionalized rock music. took us out of the hair metal days 5.Led Zappelin because about the same reason as the Stones 6.Run DMC brought rap into the scene and paved the way for rap music becoming popular 7. Metallica they brought rocking out to a new level and have maintained it for decades 8. Chili Peppers because their is not another band in the world who has as much talent as the chili peppers do and they have an original style that speaks for itself 9. Rage because they started a whole new genre paving the way for Linkin Park, etc.. and tom morello is one of the greatest and most innovative guitarists of all time 10. Michael Jackson because he is the king of pop making way to all the pop singers we have today. Their are more bands out their who are influential but these are the top 10 in my opinion. ps disregard the other top 10 that has my name on it.

#1: chuck berry #2: New york Dolls #3: velvet underground

Review: Chuck berry he invented rock and roll. He was the real influences not elvis you can here it in the blues style rock that followed in the 60's and 70's without chuck their would be no elvis. The New York dolls sure iggy may have been claimed by a few bands as the inverter of punk but i think they just said that because they did not want to admit the real influence the sex pistols and the new york dolls had the same manager sylvai sylvain still has the letter asking him to be the leader of the group. The ramones came out of new york city the had the feal and the guts off the new york dolls. I f the new york dolls never existed those two connection cut there would have never been punk. Also the 80's hair metal van halen had a real big new york dolls influence bringing the girl group feel the new york dolls always had the first van halen album bop showop the new york dolls had similiar girl dowop influence in their songs to. Then the influence on the pixies I am not sure! about this one i keep looking for the site it said their is a major connection i found it once but i keep looking i can not find it. It took the new york dolls the men that saved rock and roll from that awful psychodelic late beatles and pink floyd crap to bust us into some good music. The guns and roses did a tribute song to johnny thunders on the spaghetti album. velvet underground brought the brash no sense lyrism to the ones who where lkistening.

#1: Jimi Hendrix #2: Led Zepplin #3: The Beatles #4: Bob Dylan #5: Lynard Skynard #6: The Rolling Stones #7: CCR #8: The Velvet Underground #9: The Who #10: Pink Floyd

Review: Well i put Jimi Hendrix first because the man basically invented Heavy Metal, Led Zepplin second because they started the modern version of rock, The Beatles thrid becasue they're the Beatles, Bob Dylan had more impact than we'll ever know with his feeling and lyrics, Lynard Skynard because they had a southern, blues style that i think touched alot of people and influenced them to write softer songs, The Rolling Stones had alot to do with the modern version of rock n' roll becasue they lasted so long and almost every song they ever made was a hit! Who else can claim that? CCR is 7th because they are a personall influence to me, The Velvet Underground because their music was strong enough to make people actually form a band, i mean how many peoples music make you go out and form a band? The WHO is 9th and pink floyde is tenth because they had that 70's style rock that alot of the guys in the 80's grew up listening to and formed bands like GNR and AC DC
