With an increasingly long gap between albums, it's never easy predicting when Fiona Apple will return to the studio, though in the case of the brand new "The Idler Wheel..." (Clean Slate/Epic), she certainly delivered a poetic and endearing batch of material worth the seven year wait. Though that project was the main thrust of her sold out Chicago Theatre show, the set list also had a sampling from 1996's "Tidal," 1999's "When The PawnÉ" and 2005's "Extraordinary Machine," all of which affirmed the singer/songwriter's eccentric charm and artistic consistency.
