Review: Anyone who falls asleep in a concert shouldn't be there in the first place. Apearing at a show for the sake of selling an article is shameless enough, but to diss a band based simply on the inability to connect with the music is just sad. Do I really care what the sleeping fat guy on the balcony has to say about a band he OBVIOUSLY cares little for? Nope. When I read a concert review, the first thing I want to know is the reviewers knowledge of the band. This way, I can quickly weed out the people who may be able to give me some insight on the bands skill that night, instead of some canned review from a dude who couln't even bring himself to stay upright for 2 hours.

Review: Wow!! The Soundtrack Of Our Lives put on a great show. The reviewer did a good job trying to catch the feel that night, there was something special in the air. The lead singer was really entertaining and the guitars, oh my god, the guitar playing was outrageous. What a great show from a great band.

Review: I was at the Nov 13 TSOOL show at Metro and it was the most unbelievable concert I have ever seen!! The band is a hidden gem, I can't believe nobody knows about these guys. The only band I can even compare them to for giving a great live performance are my all time favorites, Pearl Jam, and I have to admit, Soundtrack of Our Lives were way hotter than Pearl Jam! Review: I think TLC has no right to continue thier journey like nothing has happened. They are giving no credit to former member, Lisa (Left-eye). In the result of her death they don't even appear shook up at all. And I think they see this as a opportunity to make more money. Thier new albumn Id terrible. In thier first single they talk about talking about guys in a nasty way. This is terrible compared to thier first inspirational song dont go chasing waterfalls.

artist: John Mayer
venue: Alliant Energy Center, Madison WI
Review: This past Friday I was blessed with the opportunity to experience a John Mayer concert. When i arrived at the Colliseum, I thought i'd never get to even see the show because i was so far back and there were tons of people. Somehow, I managed to work my way up to the front and left of the stage. I was amazed at how incredibly awesome John Mayer sounds live. I knew from the first time I heard him that he was amazingly talented, but he really proved himself. I made shirts that said "John Mayer is my Hero" and I have to say, his set was awesome and he really was my hero when he didn't close with No Such Thing. That would have been typical, but he showed me and everyone else that he's unique, and ultimately better than the rest. He was funny, and quite the crowd pleaser. I give him a two big thumbs ups. Maybe if he's not too busy he'd marry me or something....

Review: Hey whoever is on the other end reading this, I've been a fan of the 60's 70's 80's 90's and a little of 00's and it was great to make it the pretty ugly club in hollywood and watch the show of people in the streets on the road and in the cars. It was great to wish taime good luck on the tour, as I didn't know what else to say!
then as the tour progressed I had the opportunity to watch them for the 3rd time in Washigton state. first was with Alice Cooper, Second was with blacboard Jungle where I had the chance to talk with the vocalist before the show, and third in everett, with pretty boy floyd I was pretty drunk but that is to expect, The show was great it made my years. Keep rocking don't stop or you're panties might drop.

Review: The strokes were the most boring thing there. They were like almost as bad as Papa roach(who suck more than anybody) - Their set was so sucky. It was a half hour and it sounded like the same song over and over. They have no emotion when they play - And they try so hard to project an image. They try to act like they don't care what they look like but they care more then anybody. THE STROKES SUCK BIG TIME!

Review: A pretty lame review of a good concert. Aimee Mann played fine and relatively enlivened versions of her repetoir - often with some comic relief via a self deprecating sense of humor . Aimee Mann's albums contain very few poppy happy tunes. So what did you expect? The Go Gos?

Zack Rosen, Urbana Il 11/14/02
artist: Sigur Ros
Review: Some of the concert did drag on a bit, but it was a truly amazing concert. The band sounds signifigantly better live - more flushed out and bare - truly one of the best musical experiences of my life.

Missy G, Chicago IL 11/14/02
artist: Rush
Review: I think someone else should have reviewed this concert. Give me a break! You didn't even get the songs right, they didn't play "Ceiling Unlimited" that night. "Freewill" is ONE word.
Neil's drum solo is ALWAYS a highlight for a real fan. Maybe you weren't aware he does that each concert? Hmmm. He is not stealing the spotlight from Alex and Geddy. The guy is one of the best drummers in the world. He earned that time and his fans love it!
I could go on and on. Your review sounds like it came from someone who never saw the band before, and it is obvious you don't know anything about them, their personal stories or how good they are to their fans.
They are not ego-maniacs. To the delight of their fans, they are absolutely brilliant.

Review: To the person who wrote that the Cheese show at Alpine was repetitive, was obbiously not there, they were rocking out, it was intense, and yet delitghtfully fresh, it was a new sound for us. For me it was great coming off the Spring tour of rocking out night after night.

Gavin, Colorado 11/12/02
artist: Nashville Pussy
Review: I think your interviewer was a total perv. Sure, Ryter is a hottie, but she's also a damn good guitar player (a fact that escaped your interviewer). Also, asking Ruyter if she had a traditional marriage was goofy - how about something more direct like, "do you f*ck other guys besides your husband?" Ruyter did a good job of deflecting a rather stupid personal question there.

Kevin, Chicago 11/05/02
artist: Rush
Review: Who cares if you don't really like Rush? They have their fare share of fans- What is lacking in your "review" isn't your appreciation for the band, but your skill as a writer. Your wrong in your assumtion that a band should be able to "draw attendees in, regardless of their interest level". Sorry, but if you don't like a band, why would you spend money to go see them, then act dissapointed that they didn't win you over. This is a silly and nonsensical philosiphy; If your not crazy about a bands music, how would watching them play it live make it any more enjoyable??
Maybe it's just me, but I would never go to a proggressive rock concert and expect a low key, stripped down show...
Rush doesn't seem interested in changing the sound that has made them famous in order to be more widely embraced by the public- at this pont in their careers, what would be the point?

BorgSex, Jackson, MS 11/05/02
artist: RUSH
It was by far the largest turd I have ever seen. It must have taken you a week to wipe your chin after laying that story. Yes I am inferring that you have rectal-cranial connections. If you hate the band, why did you buy a ticket in the first place and then WHY sit through the show? Your article paints your obscurred, and opaque view of the band members and your lack of understanding is loathesome to say the least. The fact that you posted on the internet something designed to express your hatred toward a band that has been around for over twenty years and are still together, still recording, and still touring, and still sound great, eludes your tiny one-celled squid-brain. I would suppose that you would rather go see a DIFFERENT kind of Boy-Band one where they might dance around on stage with a microphone in their hand, to a mechanical beat created by a machine and an id-ten-t with a few fingers. You are entitled to your opinion, even if that opinion is very wrong. ! Am I inferring that you are less-intelligent and have little mindset for real music played by Musicians? Yes.

Review: Porcupine Tree?? As if!! Time to leave the auditorium and buy a beer in the lobby and wait for the main act. Holy shit!! Is that the band? I'm drawn back to the auditorium, along with everyone else, standing between the back wall and last row of seats, and anchor my ears and eyes on the stage.. These guys are as good as, no better than, anything I’ve heard. I haven’t been blown out of my shoes, and socks, like this since, God, twenty or more years ago. Live music can't sound this good. Amazing ... everybody back here is quiet and focused on the stage. Main act is on the stage now and ... I can't get the Porcupine out of my head. Time to head for the lobby again . this time to buy the Porcupine CD.

Nice photos. And Rush did not play "Ceiling Unlimited" at the United Center. They played it during the summer at the Tweeter Center.
Thank heaven for Rush. There's enough sameness on the radio today.

Bruce, Chicago, Il 11/05/02

Review: These were the best concert photos I've seen. I was disappointed in the review, though. It was the stereotypical review of a Rush concert, replete with all the whining about individual virtuosity. It seems to me critics would like all bands to play to one formula. If you want that, turn on the radio. Good site, though.

artist: Cinderella
Review: I've always believed Cinderella to be the best band to come out of the '80s metal scene, not just because of their fine musicianship and rock-solid live show, but because of their willingness to evolve. Their 1st album was classic mid-80s metal, but each of their following three records was a stark departure from the last. Their material was constantly mutating, yet you always could tell it was Cinderella.
This is why I believe we as fans have been denied some excellent music due to this band's state of limbo. I for one would rush out to buy new material from these guys. Forget radio and MTV ( most of us have ); if Cinderella would just stick to their guns and play their hearts out, they could be the closest thing we'll ever see to "The Next Rolling Stones".

Review: I agree with the review in some ways. It is true that they performed the entire Is This It CD verbatim. At this point in their career I think that's what their fans want. 15 years from now they should put a new spin on some of these songs but not right now. You only get one chance to see a band this good at a venue like The Rave. After this they either get huge and start playing larger venues or they disolve away into nothing. If they don't fade into nothing I guess you might see them on the backside of their career at such a place. My daughter and I drove 400 miles to see the Milwaukee show and while it was over in one hour we did't feel cheated. Possibly cheated by Har Mar Superstar but not The Strokes.

Review: Incubus...a band thats come a long way. I wasn't that into them when I first saw them live here, but ever since then i've been hooked. many misconstrue the band as a pop/ rock band, but i see more into it. i see them as an artful, creative, melodic, atmospheric sounding band that derives most of its sounds from space and nature itself. the words are so grabbing. each musician plays thier instrument like its an extra body part. bottom line: amazing band that i hope gets more popular along the way.

Review: Brad, you are no doubt a Robert Plant fan as I am also a Led Zeppelin fan, but this review although factually correct on the history is chock full of jealousy. MansfieldI was a bit of an "off" show and a tour leg opener. I was there. I was also at two other shows where Roger's incredible voice hit *all* of the high notes with incredible power. Pete Townshend was unconcious on guitar and the crowd *never* sat down. People all around me were looking at eachother and saying "Is this really happening?!" during the encore. Those guys kicked ass and you picked on them. Robert had to keep yelling "I didn't hear you!" to the audience. Something Roger has NEVER had to do. I enjoyed his show. But his energy was not near the level of Pete and Roger. Of course, his style is totally different. Don't bring up money grubbing either. Who has the biggest net worth? It is not even close. I am so proud of them for not giving up. That is what make The Who different and inspiring. They ar! e human. Not aloof.
And as far as Tommy goes, the real message is in the words of an inspired Pete Townshend. Lyrically speaking and spiritually speaking Led Zeppelin is not in the same universe as a seeking Pete Townshend. He had real light. He is honest enough to say that he can't do it anymore (write for The Who) like he did pre-1976 but he is still alive. You do not understand Tommy. It deals with a basic question in our existance and exposes things that no one dared to touch before. Very deep and bright. It is not just on the surface. I see no such brightness in Page/Plant's writing, but I do see incredible musical power and beauty. Roger and Pete are not quitters. You see it as a liability. I see it as an inspiration. They gave their all and it was such a thrill to see them. If there really is going to be a Led Zeppelin reuinion, you can thank them for it.

Review: My friend and I are huge Strokes fans. The Minneapolis show was all sold out so we had to drive over 7 hours to see the guys in Milwaukee. We both thought it was the best concert we've been to, just seeing all of them in person and hearing them live. Also, we did get to meet the guys after the show!!! We hugged Fab and got our pic taken with him and Nick, and we got pics of Nikolai and Albert. Fab said he thought he looks like a Columbian druglord in the CD pic of him. That was the best night!!!

Review: You're nuts! I saw the show, It totally kicked ass! Townsend was on fire, and it blew away the toure in 89 where they practically had an orchestra on stage. This ain't the sixties or seventies, but from my judgement, these guys still rock!

Were you interviewing Ms. Tit or trying to date her? Somewhere in her family tree there must be a connection to Jimmy Durante.

Review: Well, it's NOT the temptations' who did "Smiling Faces Sometimes", it's The Undisputed Truth. And although the Supremes did a version of "The Weight" with the Temptations, the original version was by The Band. And I don't know what you mean in the closing paragraph by calling "Feel My Love" (actually called "Make You Feel My Love" - a Bob Dylan cover) "dingy"? Still, I applaud your great taste in recognizing Joan Osborne as the supremely talented artist she is...

: Review: MAYBE, THE WHO AND ROBERT PLANT KNEW THAT THE GREAT BRAD WALSETH WAS GOING TO BE AT TWEETER CENTER ON AUGUST 24TH. AND MAYBE THEY DECIDED TO GIVE HIM A BAD SHOW FOR SOME REASON UNBEKNOWNST TO US. I WAS AT THE VERIZON WIRELESS MUSIC CENTER IN INDIANA ON AUGUST 25TH AND WITNESSED ONE HECK OF A SHOW PUT ON BY BOTH MR. PLANT AND THE WHO. DUE TO THE CONTENT OF DREAMLAND, ROBERT PLANT HAD A RATHER SUBDUED SET.
THE WHO WERE NOTHING BUT HIGH ENERGY. DALTREY'S VOICE WAS BETTER THAN EDDIE VEDDERS'AT ANY TIME. FOR 50+ YEAR OLD SINGERS, PLANT AND DALTREY DID A FINE JOB. THE ONLY LETDOWN I HAD WAS WHEN PINO PALLADINO (SESSION BASSIST EXTRAORDINAIRE??) COULDN'T PLAY THE BASS RIFF IN "MY GENERATION". AS ANYONE KNOWS, THAT WORK MAKES THE SONG. ALL IN ALL, IT WAS A GREAT SHOW!! MR. WALSETH PROBABLY WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED IT MORE IF HE BOUGHT A $30 LAWN SEAT.

Review: Oh lord, how different can two shows be. I have no idea how they did at the Vic, but out here they absolutely brought down the Hollywood HOB. Anyone who has been to a show in LA knows how difficult it can be to get the crowd in LA to stop talking about themselves and listen. This one was fun as hell from the start. I wont comment on the songs, you already know whether you like the bands recordings. I am just here to say that this show was tight musically, loose socially, and f'ing good times for all.

Review: This article would have been much more invigorating if it included more about the rest of the band. Don't get me wrong, I think that everything that was said about Brandon Boyd is very true, but his talent is hightened because of the quality of the musicians that make the band a whole. Without the other 4 memebers of the band Brandon Boyd would just be a voice, a voice without meaning.

Review: how can you call dirk and jose submissive to brandon? the bass and drums are what makes up the entire sound. Brandon's voice is just a highlight of their music. though incredibly talented as it may be, he is just the singer. they are all together one piece. no one is submissive to another in any band. why must the media concentrate on a singer as if he IS the band, when he is one portion of what it takes to make the band? im getting tired of the never ending focus on just brandon. There are 4 other members to appreciate. Give them the credit they deserve instead of putting them as brandon's backup band.

Review: i went to the show in omaha and i fell totally in love with the and all over again. but that's probably because i've been a fan from the beginning. the only problem with my show was the people kept pushing and shoving and i kept worrying about fighting for my own life, which ruined the show a little for me. but i was still blown out of the water by them.

Review: Hi,
I read your review with great interest, and was happy to find a very honest opinion, which does not sound influenced by the hype surrounding the band, on that concert. I saw the Strokes 7 times live between june 2001 (in England) and august 2002, I can clearly tell that the best show I saw was the very first one, in June 2001 when they toured England having only released Their Modern Age ep. I can tell you the concert was everething you expect from the strokes live, tension, passion, you could feel the band was really impressed to play but so eager to please, convince and seduce the audience. Julian did not look lifeless, he was nervous and doing his best. The band was more still than pogoing on stage, it wasn't annoying it was their style, their way to perform. The last time I saw them I was deeply disappointed, it seems that each time I see them, each time it's a bit under the previous show. The passion is gone, they know their 14 or 15 songs by heart and don't seem to enjoy playing them now.
That's all I had to say about my own experience, thanks again for the review, this sentence : 'Julian Casablancas casually sang into the mic as if ordering a cheeseburger through a Wendy's drive through speaker' is deadly funny for very accurate and picturable. The first photograph is a nice one! Elsa.

Review: Hi Saw The Strokes in Toronto on the 9th of October. They musn't have had anything left for Milwaukee because they were outstanding in front of 6,000 or so fans already quite pleased with Sloan's warm-up set. The Strokes sound was SO much more muscular than I had expected and they achieve a very nice balance of too cool and rocking hard that is quite compelling. Mind you, it's been a very long time since I've been to a show but this was quite memorable.
Thanks for the rebuttal op. Cheers.

Review: I thought The Strokes show Milwaukee, WI was wonderful. I have now been to three of their shows this tour. When you go to the shows you know what your getting yourself into. They aren't just a normal band, they are differnt. In an excellent way. I'd have to say that those were the best three concerts i've ever been to.

Review: Didn't agree with the reviewer - I saw the Who in 2000 at a small out door venue in NJ & at MSG on 7/31/02. I am fortunate to have seen them live twice. I was in HS in 1982 when they did their farewell tour, and couldn't afford the tickets. 18 years later, I got my chance, and was BLOWN AWAY. As a long time fan, I was afraid of what time might have done to them - and me - but I was AMAZED. So, two years later, I had a chance to see them where they belong - on the stage at MSG in NYC - and it was completely and totally successful. They played well, Daltry sang every line as it should have been, the audience was entranced, and people of all ages - from 8 to about 60 year olds - saw history come to life. I will never forget it, and I only regret the show couldn't have been a month & a half earlier, so I would have been in John's presence also.

And Julian did move he was a drucken singer how more punk can you get. I'm just saying The Strokes performence was great and I'd pay another 30 bucks to see them again.
