Review: pretty informative. rex went into some interesting insights about his music and music in general which was refreshing. hes also funny so that helps. i also liked that i got the real message of " coke" cleared up.. i think. i dont have the cd and whenever i heard it i could never make out the lyrics too well so i assumed brandin was talking about cocaine, but from the interview im PRETTY sure rex said it was just about the soft drink. i woulda thought they woulda known that would be pretty damn misconstrued though.

Review: Hi Leslie from Orange County California,
I noticed with your comments you did not mention this "so-called" new song that she played or the song that she replaced. I have the set list from the Chicago show and it is identical to the show that is available on dvd from her Vegas performance. Did you actually fly in to Chicago to see the show I reviewed? Oh sorry, what was that new song again!?

Review: You said that they sound exactly like Matchbox 20 and Fuel?!? No...they don't. They have their own sound and are great performers and artists. I can't even see how people compare them to Matchbox 20 except for the sound of Ryan's amazing voice. There will always be bands that sound similar when they are in the same genre of music...go ahead and compare them...just don't say that they are somehow "copying" other people's music and that they don't have their own songwriting talent. They have much more talent than a lot of people know and they will prove that. Matchbox 20?!? They suck. Greenwheel will outshine them...definitely.

Review: Whoever wrote this review obviously wasn't paying very close attention to the songs Britney sang in the 2nd leg of her tour...because she did sing one new song (i just thought it made he writer sound incredibly stupid because he/she kept writing- "not one new song.") Get your facts straight before you bash someone. The reviewer was obviously closed-minded from the moment they got there. I mean - How much could Britney change her show from night to night? One wrong step and she could be burned to death by a firework! Why do biased people write reviews anyway...?

Review: I can not help but to love Meat, he is one of the best performers I have ever seen in concert. He puts on the best shows. I love every song he sings. I have tried to see every movie that he has been in, even the little parts he gets; an example is the little part he got in Wayne's World. My kids love Meat too, they are 12 and 10, and they can sing just about everyone of his songs.
He also has the greatest voice ever. The only disappointing thing, is when the concert is over, he is so entertaining that you just don't want it to end. I just wanted to say that there are alot of fans out here that LOVE MEATLOAF and that LOVE TO SEE HIM IN CONCERT and that LOVE TO HEAR HIM SING. Keep it up Meat, and don't ever give up. You have alot of people that LOVE YOU.

Bob, Buffalo, NY 07/08/02
artist: Poison, Cinderella
Review: Youre article hits alot of nails on the proverbial head. Looking ahead is the only way to go. Let me preface by saying this was my first Poison concert ever. I'm on the doorstep of forty years old but never really got the chance to see them until June 30 at Darien Lake Amphitheater, so to me it was brand new.
Went to the venue to see Poison and Cinderella. No knock on Winger or FP but two very young boys at home mean time constraints. Anyway, Cinderella rocked like I knew they would, looked great sounded great, I got more from them than I ever thought I would. They meant everything they played, first chord to last. You're right. Give us something new. Nostalgia to me is still ten years down the road for this absolutely ROCKIN band!
Now for the real story. After getting a dog and a couple of nice cold beverages on a 90 degree evening in a Buffalo, NY suburb, it was time to rock and roll with a vengeance. Poison hit the stage and it all came clear: This aint no nostalgiac rock and roll show, this is the real thing! From my ninth row seat I saw Bret, CC, Bobby and Rikki remanufacture that whole venue and make it their own.
The show started so strong, got stronger, and ended with a strength I cant define. There I was seeing one of my favorite bands doing their thing after so many ups and downs and doing it so well that the thought of nostalgia was thrown out the window!
We all know that for Poison to be Poison CC must be present and he made his presence felt time and time again. The next time I see him kicking the crap out of the two sorry bastards next to him on celebrity rock and roll Jeopardy I will not giggle at his excentricities. I will embrace them because those are what make him so talented and so hard to do without.
Nostalgia? Uh uh. This band is on top of their game, "Hollyweird" is just a new beginning...

Review: Mr. Phil Bonyata was absolutely describing The Heartbreakers that I have seen in concert when he spoke of Tom and Mike playing off of each other and complimenting one another perfectly. He also accurately described the soulful importance of Mr. Petty's masterful songwriting skills. But, what show was he at to describe "rote versions" and asking if they have the will to reach greatness while performing live? In my opinion Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are the definition of a great live band and anyone who can't see that is blind.

Review: The Tom Petty show at Milwaukee Summerfest was the third tour in a row I've had an opportunity to see him. I thought he put on a decent show but I could've most certainly done without them dragging out songs for 15 minutes + (such as "Good to Be King"). Also I didn't mind him introducing some new material that's yet to be released, but THREE SONGS? Extending a song 10 extra minutes and playing more than one song that hasn't even been released yet robbed me of at least three other classics they could have played such as "Don't Come Around Here No More", "Don't Do Me Like That", "You Got Lucky", "The Waiting", "Listen To Her Heart" and MANY others he could've chosen instead. I've seen him twice before and his previous shows never let me down. I left extremely disappointed and wished I had saved my money, stayed home, and listened to his CDs. Also a word of advice for anyone over the age of 33 wanting to attend Milwaukee Summerfest: pay the extra money and get pav! illion seats. If you sit on the lawn or in the bleachers, you're only subjecting yourself to annoying, obnoxious teen-agers yelling profanity and throwing beer. These same kids have been allowed by the City of Milwaukee to slip through the cracks and drink alcohol all day in the sweltering heat. Thanks for the education, kids... I'll never buy lawn seats again.

Review: Dear Mr. Bonyata, I think the answer to your question is answered in your 'rave' review. This band delivers a concert with gusto like no one else. How much more "practical experience' do they need to prove to critics that they have the 'will to reach greatness' while performing LIVE? My vote is a resounding YES - any other vote would be an insult to their art and to their fans. Thank you for letting me respond. Lorriane ....I love this band!

Review: I love Poison, I love Cinderella, I love Faster Pussycat and I love Winger. I think when I decide to go see them in concert come Aug. I won't think of how many songs were being played from new albums, or how long they stayed on stage, the fact of being so close and seeing bands I have admired all my life will keep me coming year after year. To see the bands I grew up on and jammed to so many times, thrills the hell outta me. I could careless if Poison or any other of the bands plays new material, I will love each and every band the same...forever I will be a 80's chic! LoL

Jeanette, Detroitt, MI 07/01/02
Those modern artists are just soooooooooooooo negative! I find myself longing for the 80's "have a good time party bands", like this one...

Bridget, Houston, Texas 06/30/02
artist: Poison, CInderella, Winger, Faster Pussycat
Review: I attended the Hollyweird Tour in Houston on May 31st 2002. I would have to say that Faster Pussycat scared me a bit until they started their show. They had a good show and people need to listen to them instead of look at them. Winger came on and I could not believe my eyes. I have not seen these guys for many moons but other than the hair length I thought they had not changed a bit and they keep rocking on. Cinderella came on and I thought I was in the 80's again. Tom Keifer has not changed a bit... in fact he looks younger now then he did in the 80's. Cinderella needs to make another CD. I think that would bring them back in high gear. Their show kicked A@@. They were the best out there. I am a huge poison fan I have been for many many years but it says something when Cinderella can out rock Poison on their own tour! Poison came out the air became thick and they rocked. They played for 30 minutes and all of a sudden about 100 people rushed the stage. !
I would have to say I am one of the people who were up on that stage. I had no choice. It was either jump on stage or get trampled to my death. Poison played maybe a song or 2 after that. The first Poison show I had ever seen was over. I still love Poison but now I am looking forward to Cinderella bringing out new listening material.

ROCK ON and RELIVE the 80's!!!!!

Meat's name isn't Marvin it's Michael and Patti's last name is spelled Russo, one would think if your going to write about these people you could at lease get the spelling of their name right. Terry, Dixon, IL 06/28/02
artist: Meat Loaf
Review: Review: Well for starters that's a really stupid headline. You refer to people dissing him because of his name and then turn around and do the same. He hasn't earned his musical credentials in the last 25 years? Let's hear you sing like that and hold those notes, he has an awesome range and vocal capability.
As far as the "drunken audience" receiving more attention than the performance on stage...what concert was this guy at? Sure, there were calls from the audience I didn't appreciate, but this was a ROCK concert, duhhh. The audience was wound and sang along to almost every song, probably a function of being a group of Meat fans and the standing room only situation. They may have been a tad mellower to suit the reveiwer's taste if they were seated. It wasn't a drunken crowd, it was an adoring one, Meat plays Chicago in a venue of 500 and that's what you get!
The reviewer thought Meat was peeved at the audience, well I guess he's never been to a Meat concert before. Part of his act, duhh. All in all not too bad a review, but he needed some corrections, obviously not in tune w/ everything that happened.

artist: Britney Spears
Review: I didn't see the concert live. I saw it when HBO aired it and that was enough for me. Why would anyone want to pay $75 for a ticket? To hear her CD over the arena's sound system? Must be, cuz that's all her concerts are, just her CD being played really loud with some dancing on the stage. The idea behind a LIVE concert is for the artist to perform their music LIVE. Britney, to me, is just another case of Milli Vanilli, only she lip-syncs her own studio recordings. Pathetic.

Review: Natalie Merchant is one of the most underrated performers in the present. I was dragged to see the former 10,000 maniacs singer perform by my girlfriend and i was blown away. Expecting a misanthropic evening of ballads and swan songs I was blown away instead. This concert turned into an amazing and loud collection of songs from the saucy contra-alto, she danced, she belted and most imporantly her lyrics were very poignant. I have a completely different impression of the woman. She is a virtual powerhouse and I only wish her record label would allow her singles to be less poppy in nature. She demonstrated true musicanship without strengthening her performance with fancy costumes and boob jobs...Once Again an amazing woman WOW!

artist: MARY J. BLIGE
Review: MARY J BLIGE IS NOT JUST A PERFORMER SHE'S AND INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKER, A ROLE MODEL SOME ONE TO LOOK UP TO. I LOVE THE WAY SHE TALKS ABOUT HER GROWTH PROCESS AND THE TRIALS AND STRUGGLES SHE HAD TO FACE TO GET TO THIS LEVEL IN HER LIFE. I WAS READING AN ESSENCE MAGAZINE WITH AN INTERVIEW WITH THE QUEEN IT WAS VERY POWERFUL AND EDUCATIONAL. I NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO ATTEND HER CONCERTS LIVE BECAUSE OF MY JOB COMMITMENT BUT I WILL ONE DAY. I LOVE THE WAY SHE GET'S INTO HER MUSIC WHEN SHE BALLS HER FIST UP AND THROW HER HANDS IN THE AIR LIKE SHE'S FELLING THAT. GOD BLESS MARY J. BLIGE SHE'S HAS EARNED HER TITLE AND HER PLACE IN SOCIETY AND SHE'S SAYS THERES NO MORE DRAMA NOTHING CAN STOP HER NOW. I SEE MARY IN THE ROCK -N- ROLL HALL OF FAME SOON I MEAN REAL SOON. PEACE AND GOD BLESS

artist: citizen cope
Review: I saw Citizen Cope on the CBS Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn do "If There's Love." If Dreamworks is smart they'll put Clarence Greenwood in movies. I love the CD "Citizen Cope," and give it five stars. Clarence Greenwood of Citizen Cope has star power. He's an original. I hope Dreamworks puts him in movies. Plus it gives me an extra charge when I see him perform someplace like The CBS Late Late Show and realize he wrote the song he is singing. The CD Citizen Cope gets better every time I listen to it.

Review: the band makes great records, and "gutterflower" is their best next to "a boy named goo", lyrically it *is* the best but it needs less clean electric, more loud electric anyway, as for live, I think the band is easily one of the worst live bands out there, the mix kills it alot, every goo show I've been to sucked in terms of the mix, it's always so muddy as for the performance, Johnny can't sing live, it's a fact. he sucks in the studio he's amazing but he backs off the high notes and fucks up each song to the point of unforgiveness

Jennifer Collins, Anapolis, MD 06/09/02

artist: Natalie Merchant
City & State: Review: What a magical night indeed. For the past ten years Ive loved Natalie Merchant and 10k Maniacs, Last night I finally got to see her in concert. What a great performance! She did indeed come out in a black flowery dress and clunky shoes, her hair up in a bun. Half way through the concert she lost the shoes, her bun and her shawl. The gypy dancing was very exotic, very erotic!! Natalie is indeed a great artist and performer, I will look forward to seeing her again.

Review: Monte Montgomery blows people away. There is no other way to describe it when he straps on his well-worn Alvarez acoustic guitar and takes the stage. Like Michael Jordan defying the impossible with an air-filled leather ball on the hardwood, Montgomery makes his strings, strung tautly across customized wood, produce sounds that obliterate notions of what one human is capable of pulling-off on this simple instrument. Glance around the room wherever he plays and witness wall-to-wall looks of sheer slack-jawed astonishment. The Birmingham, Alabama native moved to Texas at the age of 13, where he plunged into music -- the trumpet and piano before switching to guitar — inspired by his mother, a talented country/folk singer/songwriter. His focused dedication since then has been so single-minded, and so passionate, that he has never pursued any other livelihood. And it shows. Those who have seen him, critics and fellow musicians alike, are unabashed in their praise of his enormous talent. Texas roadhouse rocker Joe Ely says, "He's a monster ... he sets the guitar on fire." Country star Hal Ketchum deadpans: "That boy is bad on bad." Acoustic Guitar Magazine, an undisputed authority on these matters, wrote, "Monte Montgomery is not your typical, up-and-coming guitar god. His exquisitely crafted, melodically and rhythmically sophisticated pop songs suggest the best of Fleetwood Mac, Squeeze and the Police, while just happening to integrate the most mind-boggling guitar work in the state of Texas."
