Caption and photos by Andy Argyrakis Drawing over 100,000 attendees, Northalsted Market Days more than lived up to its billing as the Midwest's largest street festival and chances are this year's musical acts had a lot to do with the overwhelming appeal. From the new school, ret hot duo Karmin (think M.I.A. meets The Ting Tings) revved up the pride-filled party with a blend of club-friendly dance beats and cutting edge hip-hop, aptly paving the way for an even more familiar co-headliner. "Grease" diva and solo star Olivia Newton-John still looked "Totally Hot" when turning in a short but sweet trip through her golden oldies, while additional appearances by The Pointer Sisters and Sheena Easton rounded out the soulful celebration with plenty of reasons to sing along. |
