Story and photos by Jennifer Bronenkant Born Kevin Moore in the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles, Keb' Mo' broke into the scene as a traditional blues artist with his first self titled certified gold album in 1994. Since then, his music has evolved to his own brand of pop heavily influenced by '70s soul, jazz and of course blues. Not easily fitting neatly in any one box, he has won Grammys in contemporary blues categories as well as Country Song of the Year along with many other industry awards.Opening with "All The Way" from his newly released album The Reflection, Mo' showcased several songs from this latest work. His jazzy soulful music is as easy and approachable as the best pop with a level of quality not ofen found in the chart topping music of today. Mo' kept the show rolling with a mix of songs from all of his records. His light banter and easy smile showed that this is one musician that still knows how to entertain and really connect with the audience. Finishing out the night with "She Just Wants To Dance," he left the crowd on their feet dancing, happy and still wanting more. |
