Review and photos by Mary Andrews Eaglerider sponsored AZ NOVEMBERFEST and it was a roaring success. The event was formerly known as the annual D-Low Memorial Show and was revamped this year as the aforementioned. The stage was set up in the parking lot of Eaglerider Motorcycles (a chain renting a wide variety of motorcycles). There was ample room for the large stage, equipment, first aid tent, multiple vendors, and the fans! Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin charged the stage and quickly fired up the crowd with their Post-grunge blend of rock. Scantlin has had some negative publicity lately including not showing up for a show in Scottsdale earlier this year. But the showman was in good spirits on this day and served healthy portions of the band's hits including "Stoned," "Psycho," and "Spaceship." Fuel quickly followed Puddle of Mudd's incendiary set. The only original member of the band is lead singer, Brett Scallions. Songs in their set included material from their newest album, Puppet Strings as well as favorites from the past. The hits played included "Shimmer," "Hemorrhage, " and "Bittersweet," Scallions' voice is still powerful and maintains the ability to pull the audience in deep with the sheer power of his lyrics. Between sets the latest motorcycle fashions were paraded and modeled and some of the designers appeared on stage to push their brands. There was also a guitar auctioned that was donated by Daughtry. It was signed by all of the bands. Daughtry requested that the proceeds go the to local veterans and managed to raise $1900 for the charity. Sebastian Bach took the stage like a storm with a purpose. The former Skid Row frontman has all the charisma it takes to captivate a crowd and he seemed to enjoy his time performing. His vocals are as rich and powerful as ever. Songs performed included his Skid Row hits, "Piece of Me." "Monkey Business," "18 And Life," and "Youth Gone Wild." Solo hits were also performed. Daughtry was the final set for the night and the high expectations were quickly fulfilled! Chris Daughtry came out of the gates running. He was in the mood to entertain the crowd and he had enough energy to fuel a trans-Atlantic jetliner! The songs in the set were from all four of their albums. The American Idol finalist performed full throttle throughout the whole set. They did slow things down to dedicate the ballad "Home" to America's much-appreciated veterans. |
