U2 U2 tickets on the tops of many wishlists

Bono has been busy the last few years trying to save the world from war and hunger, but now he is back with The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen as U2. The supremely popular group from Ireland is preparing to tour for their latest album, No Line on the Horizon, on what has been called the U2 360º Tour.

No Line on the Horizon was released on February 27, 2009 and is far more experimental than the last two albums. The tour name is, however, quite literal. U2 will be playing in the middle of arenas on circular stage that allows the audience to see them from every angle.

The tour will start in Europe in Barcelona on June 30 and remain there until August 22, when it will cross the Atlantic Ocean and start on a journey across North America that begins in Chicago on September 12. From there the band will play in the States until October 28,U2 at which point they will take a break before beginning again in the summer of 2010. There are already plans for a South American leg as well. This tour could potentially have 90 to 100 concerts scheduled, with the finale coming in 2011.

What makes this even more impressive is that while U2 is enchanting audiences for two years they plan to release another album and write the music for a Broadway show. Originally No Line on the Horizon was supposed to be a double album with one disc being Day and the other being Night.

These plans were scratched and all the best material became No Line on the Horizon with the rest of the material expected to come out before the end of 2009 on a separate EP. This means that U2 will have plenty of new material to mix in with classics like "With or Without You," "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," and "Beautiful Day."

Perhaps the group will include the some of the songs Bono and The Edge are writing for Spider Man the Musical, which is set to debut in winter 2010. Yes, the front man and the guitarist could not help but take a stab at being the first rock band since the Who to write their own rock opera.

U2 is adding their name a very impressive concert list this summer. Fans will have to choose between groups like Fleetwood Mac trying to relive the good times (and forget the bad) and the annual Bruce Springsteen tour. U2 seems to be applying for the job of the best band in the world a third time.
