Some people may not see it, but just listening to Shaun Morgan's voice channeled Kurt Cobain , at least it did for me. Even more so on their second album, Disclaimer 2, on the new song Take Me Away. In the opening verses of the song, he sounds so much like Kurt that it almost makes you think you're actually listening to Nirvana. But Seether is definitely one of the best bands out there. Kathy Schroeder, Fredericksburg, Tx 06/29/04 artist: Merle Haggard Review: I am Kathy Shroeder and I live in Fredericksburg, Texas. I need your help. It is painful when someone makes a commitment to you and breaks their word but even more painful when you are treated as the one with the lack of integrity. I am asking the press to please assist me in asking Mr. Haggard why he continues to fight me on a lawsuit that involves him not showing up for a concert. We are people of great faith, we have prayed about what to do and we feel that it is time to bring the subject up because after almost four years people forget and that is what Mr. Haggard wants. I had just read an interview where he said he wanted his legacy to be that he was an honest man. He has hurt us so much I am asking that everyone ask him why he has allowed this case to drag on, year after year and causing my family such financial destruction. When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically, you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when the wind blows through you! r life? We are people of faith and we have weathered this storm, but we need the help of the media to bring this story back to life. I have been reading all of the stories written on Mr. Haggard. The great reviews about how he strolls out on stage and makes everyone so excited. I read how loved he is by all. I have read over and over what a great talent, worldly man, and honest man he is. I have noticed that the negative stories about Mr. Haggard are seldom printed. Mr. Haggard ruined me financially when he no showed on a concert, filed false litigation against me which forced me to hire a lawyer, go to court, and prove that his allegations were false, which means he lied on a sworn affadavit. The only truthful affadavit he signed was the one where he admitted he had a contract with me when he had first taken the position that he did not have a contract. This happened in 2001. I have MS, I have not been in remission since he did this to me. He has put my family in a situation of possibly losing our home, which would make us homeless. He only filed the false litigation in hopes to bully me into dropping the suit. When that didn't work we started getting death threats. Now of course I am not accusing him of making these calls but when our local police spoke to his lawyers the calls stopped. It is pretty frightening to wake up in the middle of the night and hear a man tell you he is going to kill your entire family unless you drop! the lawsuit against Merle Haggard. There are other terrible things that I cannot go into on an email because it will be used in court. But there were other things he had done to my family that caused us more legal fees, and a great amount of emotional distress and pain. This man who professes to be a representative of the working man, who wants his legacy to be one of honesty and honor is quite contradictory of who he really is. I read an article written by Neal Shaffer, titled, "Putting Honesty Back on the Line", Mr. Haggard represents himself as a family man with family values. I will never be able to recoup the loss of the money from the show he decided he didn't want to play. Blaine Martin, of Blaine's Pub in San Angelo, Texas had the same experience the night before our show, he was quoted in the San Angelo news paper as saying that Mr. Haggard was drunk and just left, Mr. Martin reported that he received this information from the road manager for Mr. Haggard. Again, I am only reporting what I read in the San Angelo Times, which by the way the story was never retracted. He said he spoke directly to Mr. Haggard's road manager and Mr. Haggard was throwing a fit and left. Mr. Haggard said he was having a heart problem so rather than go to the San Antonio Heart Center, he got back in his bus and drove home to California. He has ruined our credit, I am unable to afford the drugs I need for my MS, we are barely making it but we have a lot of faith in God and we have to believe everything will work out. Mr. Haggard chose to pay lawyers rather than pay us for all of the expenses we had. He has probably paid more in legal fees than what he owed us in the beginning, on October 27, 201. No one left that show that evening without getting paid. There were people there mad at me because Mr. Haggard did not show. I was hit in the head with a beer bottle and many other sad things happened. Thank goodness the police were there to help. Mr. Haggard stated under sworn statements that he helped arrange for band players to show up. That is false. We were up until midnight trying to fill the show with entertainers. It was at the show that I found out from many of the entertainers that did show up after we had contacted them that Mr. Haggard has a habit of not showing up for shows. If I had known this we would have never hired him to perform. In the article written by Shaffer Mr. Haggard states he does not like radio. Mr. Haggard could have made quite an impact here in Fredericksburg, Texas. We are a small town in the Hill Country, and people drove from 100 miles away to see him. He complains about his career, but he lets so many people down, no wonder people do feel the way they do. We met his contract to a tee. We did everything right. It was a beautiful night in the Texas Hills and there were many people who wanted to see him. His former wife stated that the doctor he used for the medical excuse was the same doctor they always used when they didn't want to do a show. But that really isn't important now because he is suing the doctors now saying he never had a heart problem. He left behind a nice couple, my husband and I in terrible financial shape, with people very angry, and when we used the legal system to redress this issue he used the press and his "icon" reputation to slander my name all over the world, the U.S. and Canada with lies, we have court testimony that prove they were lies. When the news papers went back to retract the articles that were written they were placed where most people wouldn't even notice, not on the front page above the fold when Mr. Haggard decided to smear my name. When your an icon everybody sucks up to you and the icon can get away with murder. The person who is hurt, the little guy is ignored and when I asked for a retraction on the stories that were written and the proof was there that Mr. Haggard lied about me the retractions were small and confusing. Unlike Mr. Haggard we did not leave anyone who participated in this show unpaid. We kept our word, we could not refund people, but many people didn't show up once they heard on the radio he had a "heart attack". Which was not true. The people involved in putting on the show, from the stage to the fairgrounds were paid in full. Mr. Haggard has a ryder in his contract and it must be followed. If it isn't followed exactly as stated Mr. Haggard can claim breach of contract. In our case we did everything right. We wanted this to be a good show. I know that I am nobody to you. I am just a normal person trying to live a normal life in the face of medical problems and financial woes. We may lose our home because of Mr. Haggard, but he does not care about that. He only cared about trying to ruin my name and hurt me because I exercised my rights to sue him for not showing up for a show he contracted to do. Your the press. Your important and the words you write are valued. Now I guess we can all agree that Mr. Haggard is a great talent, but as a man, he is cruel and mean. I cannot afford my MS drugs. I have been out of remission since this thing started, but I am determined to hang in there. My husband is ill and we are hurting. We suffer while Mr. Haggard travels around the country having the red carpet rolled out for him because he is a country music singer. He is treated as if he were a king. The press doesn't tell the stories like mine and there are many people that Mr. Haggard has hurt due to failing to appear at a concert. You are probably bored by now, if you have even finished this email, but I want my story told. It is going on 4 years, and I want this to end, I want to be back on my feet financially and I want my life back. Mr. Haggard's actions against my reputation and attacks on my character hurt me. My feelings and my heart is broken over what he did to me personally. I am a good person and a giving person. But, my husband who worked in the music business for 15 years has told me time and time again that nobody remembers it and it doesn't matter. It mattered to me, it hurt me and I will never get over it. My story can be verified through Rick Star a well known DJ who was the sponsor for this concert. He is now at KFAN, a Radio station, on the web here in Fredericksburg. His station lost alot, they sponsored the show. All court testimony was provided to all press who wanted to see it to prove that the legal allegations Mr. Haggard filed against me were false. Our lawyers provided this information to the press so they could retract their stories. This was not a show for profit, whatever proceeds were left over were to go to New Horizons, a non profit agency that helps mentally challenged people live on their own. It is a very good organization and the money would have stayed right here and it would have done a lot of good. I sold a ring that belonged to my mother and gave them a small donation, I just couldn't let them down. Our attorney is Melvin Gray, he can be reached at 325 653 4594. I look at the top ten shows of 2003 and see some not so good bands and some very respectable bands but FUCK YOU!
