I prayed that the band I grew up skating with in the streets of NorCal hadn't sold out on me and gone pop-rock, going the ways of bands like the Offspring who matter-of-factly grew up in the same area playing to the same crowds as A.F.I. However as I listened through skeptical ears for any ounce of "fame-induced rounded rock", i realized something: A.F.I. haven't changed, theyve evolved into something deeper, more pure. They are still in control of their music and they know exactly where theyre taking it, they're ripping through the music scene forging their own brand of song in an industry where bands riddled with pre-teen angst such as Simple Plan and Sum41 have crapped on long enough. I look forward to the next album, I'm sure it will be better than the last, and i think Mr. Bonyata needs to take ! off his East Coast beer goggles and realize that A.F.I. is a groundbreaking band that's going to be around for a while, so he better get used to it. We listened with few friends among whom there are some who had overdosed on Led Zeppelin and in the beginning were pessimistic about listening to the same they are listening for about 20 years now. But there was a big surprise for the enthusiasts and pessimists alike. The sound and performance is absolutely spectacular with new sound. A friend, the new York artist said that those who were there were some lucky bustards and that he would die if he was present. so naturally I told him that it was a good thing you were not in the age to be there.
