Only postive thing about his tenure with a major label was it did help get his name out to the general radio listening public who otherwise might not have given him a second glance. Of course, the White Stripes set my standards as high as can be. But the Hives came through in every aspect and did more than imagined. First, as I bought my cheap fifteen dollar shirt prior to the show, we were greeted by "Rocks Off" by the Rolling Stones and "Down on the Street" by the Stooges. I knew it was going to be a good night. Second, the openers, the Deadly Snakes (of which I knew nothing about) and the Dirtbombs (of which I knew little about), were awesome. Each act made me wonder how the next could live up to it. But each act did. The pinnacle of course: the Hives. The song selection and line-up was as good as could be. If only I could remember, quote for quote, what Pelle said between each song I would be a much happier person. Their blatent cockiness and boastful nature only advertised their absolute tightneess as a band. Note for note, they amazed the entire ! crowd with more exciment than you would have thought could be crammed into such a small amount of time. First, as I bought my cheap fifteen dollar shirt prior to the show, we were greeted by "Rocks Off" by the Rolling Stones and "Down on the Street" by the Stooges. I knew it was going to be a good night. Second, the openers, the Deadly Snakes (of which I knew nothing about) and the Dirtbombs (of which I knew little about), were awesome. Each act made me wonder how the next could live up to it. But each act did. The pinnacle of course: the Hives. The song selection and line-up was as good as could be. If only I could remember, quote for quote, what Pelle said between each song I would be a much happier person. Their blatent cockiness and boastful nature only advertised their absolute tightneess as a band. Note for note, they amazed the entire ! crowd with more exciment than you would have thought could be crammed into such a small amount of time.
