The first set of "hits" was like a stroll down ballad lane...there was nothing really heavy. "The Wisper" was probably the best song in the set and that was the opener. "NM 156" would have been nice...or "Nightrider" or "Blinded" from the EP. But then again, I didn't buy an album after "Operation: Mindcrime" which I think was released in 1988, not 1990. The only reason I think I'm right about that is that there was a big underground campaign from the Chicago chapter of the band's fans clamoring to get them included on the "Monsters of Rock" tour which featured Van Halen, The Scorpions, Dokken, Metallica and (can you fucking believe it) Kingdom Come...or was it Kingdom Cum? Queensryche would have really made that an event. Anyway, I saw them on "The Warning" tour in 1985 at The Alamo in Aurora, IL. What a show! Rage with disorder was more like it...that's why I was underwhelmed with this show's op! ening set. But I love Slayer, Exodus bands that can still ROCK out!
