It's called The Tour of the Mongoose and it's Shakira's first stadium tour in the wake of the international success of her English-language disc Laundry Service. The giant King Cobra had to certainly enjoy elevating Shakira as she performed a very erotic belly dance inside of it's mouth. No doubt not wanting to spit it's venom on the audience as it might also have it's Latin prize hurl forth with it. With her trademark belly exposed, push-up bra and golden locks flowing everywhere, she moved her shapely ass with enough confidence to lure you into her trap. She still emphasizes style over substance.
However, she succeeds through sheer determination and natural verve. Still, there is much to love from her opening number "Ojos Asi" to the final "Objection (Tango)" which blended South American percussion and rhythms nicely. She dedicated a large part of her set to Spanish speaking numbers like "Te Dejo Madrid' and "Un Poco De Amor." "Underneath Your Clothes" had her demonstrating her skills on the power ballad nicely. Shakira shaked her groove thing all night, bopping like the belle of the headbangers ball and taking enough mosh-pit theatrics along the way. She has what it takes to infuse better written music with her already strong stage presence. Just as long as she keeps shakin' her butt.
