Review and photos by Mary AndrewsThis new band welcomes a debut album, The Wild Feathers, and touring as opening act for Willie Nelson all in one week! The album is a lively set of Southern Rock songs that conjure memories of early Eagles' harmonies and melodies. Four of the members of the band have co-written all the songs on the album. The collaboration works exceptionally well for them. The first single from the album, "The Ceiling," has been featured on "The Baker's Dozen" on SiriusXM's The Spectrum for five weeks.
The band has only been playing together for three years and all hail from Texas except one member who is from Oklahoma. The band members are: Taylor Burns, Joel King, Ricky Young, Preston Wimberly, and Ben Jarvis. They live in Nashville now and are hoping to tap into that "Nashville" resurgence and they certainly fit into the new music that's emanating from there.
Their energy and excitement flourished as soon as they hit the stage starting the set with "Got It Wrong!" The crowd was captivated from the start and by the time they got to "Left My Woman." Obviously, Willie's people figured that out too!
They have upcoming dates with ZZ Ward and at Austin City Limits. The future is looking mighty bright for this Nashville based ensemble and they don't even need to wear shades!
