It is rare in the music business that you can refer to someone as one-of-a-kind, as most pop stars simply copy what others are doing.

Amy Lee stands out from that crowd.

Not by a few feet, but she is simply light years ahead of her competition when it comes to originality and the ability to connect on an emotional level with her fans and critics alike.

Playing in front of a sold-out crowd at the House of Blues in Orlando, Lee and her band, Evanescence, put on both a tender and raucous 80-minute show, highlighted by a nice combination of new music off their self-titled new album, Evanescence, and the hits that have landed Lee on the airways all over the world.

Lee proved that you can be a bit of sunshine and a bit of midnight at the same time, showing plenty of tender moments during a five-song, piano-laden stretch in the middle of the gig, while beginning and ending the night with enough energy (and nearly seizure-enducing light shows) to literally shake the building with the oversized crowd.

Wearing a shining, purple tutu with a black tank top and her eyes lined with black, Lee showed off a beauty that is unique and unmatched. She is healthy and sends a message of being yourself, both through song and her appearance.

Her music seems to engage a wide variety of fans, ranging from the expected "headbangers" to an surprisingly older contingent to a smaller group of fans that treated the performance like a hip-hop concert. Yet, it all worked. It wasn't annoying, it wasn't a reach - it was simply Evanescence.

While it easy to play your hits and see a crowd belt out every note, Lee brought each song to life, especially those that we know best. From an incredible version of "What You Want" at the outset to an intimate version of "Bring Me To Life" to the show-ending "My Immortal," you didn't see anyone exit the venue early.

Just like it felt that Lee hung on every word of every song, her fans did the same. And, on this night, Lee stood alone as the epitome of how music can be immortal - it allows you to feel.
