Incubus - HQ Live Special Edition |
Review by Andy Argyrakis To celebrate twenty years together in 2011, Incubus set up shop in a Los Angeles store front and staged a week's worth of free shows caught by a few hundred fans in person and also broadcast live on the internet. Spread throughout two CDs and a single DVD, "HQ Live Special Edition" offers a highlight reel of the endeavor, while also serving as a career-spanning time capsule from the group's nu metal debut through more alternative-minded experiments.Though a few hits pop up in both places ("Wish You Were Here," "Nice To Know You"), it's really about revisiting album tracks and rarities in the live setting, which Incubus delivers with its ever evolving musicality. It's just too bad the DVD trims the adventurous set list for the sake of time and includes too many similar sounding praises from fans, but it's those dedicated followers who are still likely to devour this unique concert experience. |
