The first of two shows supporting last year's "Banga" (Columbia) featured several new tunes spun in her urgently emotive tradition, alongside a slew of classics dating all the way back to 1975's seminal breakthrough "Horses." Though the singer/songwriter/activist may be 66-years-old these days, her delivery was so fierce and hypnotic that it may as well been CBGB at the start of the punk movement she so potently defined.Patti Smith returns to Chicago's Vic Theatre on Tuesday, May 7.
