He was basically thier boss, never a member of the group. Aside from this do you listen to any punk music at all? Skate punk, now defined by modern pop punk, involves simple three chord progression and high tempo fast paced simple music. In the cd 'sing the sorrow' afi took influences from Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy and Death In june as usual, along with Tool influences and instrumental bands such as dream theatre. The intro serves as a reminder to terminator nearly cloning the sound of a certain track. Track 4, as you mention, Silver and COLD (not gold) is a religious song exploring daveys feelings about god religion and faith. This stands true to goth rock, something I believe you know little about. A ballad not meant for sneaking smokes in stud! y hall and not featuring any pop undertones but an exploration of emotion (if that is, you read the lyrics). You also go as far as to call 'Dancing through sunday' a kiddie punk fist pumping song. Have you attended an afi concert? Fist pumping is the last thing that happens. Kiddie punk? Where, if I may ask, is the punk? I'm sorry but you seem to be generalizing punk based on popular opinion of afi's past, that is if you even knew they had a past. It seems obvious that you're a fan of Industrial music, as the song you proclaim to be stellar on the cd is Death of Seasons. Though you mention the style is few and far between. This sounds like a complaint, either about the song or the cd. The song uses the industrial effects to express rage and release emotions, and, used with davey's trained thrashing voice and Jades pumping guitar, completely adds to the song, and fits there and only there. This is not a techno/industrial cd, so the imitation instruments are not used extensiv! ely, merely to enhance as they have done on other songs (miser! ia Cantare[sts], Despair Factor[aod]). Please, give at least 3 other afi cd's / e.p's a listen and re-review this cd.
