Story and photos by Kate Seesholtz John Legend brought his Evolver tour to Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium Monday evening. British newcomer Estelle opened the show, bringing the audience to their feet with her Grammy nominated hit "American Boy." She made the crowd laugh with her tips for picking up dates at the show, while she pulled fans onstage to dance with her. Her set was the perfect lead in to the rest of the show.John Legend entered from the back, down through the crowd, inciting a frenzy as he made his way to the stage. He switched effortlessly between rocking out at the microphone to soulfully singing at the piano. Legend had the diverse crowd swaying and dancing to the music on songs such as "Let's Get Lifted" and "Quickly." He played a blend of crowd favorites as well as songs as from his newest studio release, Evolver. John Legend continues his tour of the U.S. until February and will then travel to world cities from Dubai to Oslo and as far as Tokyo to Seoul. |
