Story and photos by Rob Grabowski Opening up the show for Rihanna in front of a sparsely filled United Center last night was the outrageous Ke$ha. With a multitude of performers on stage accompanying her she pranced around, performed lewd (and sometimes very sexy) gestures along with quirky dance routines reminiscent of a high school talent contest. The pubescent crowd ate it up. Apparently this is the age of style over substance for many. While Ke$ha's antics and songs are the flavor of the week, it was no surprise that when Rihanna hit the stage, that right from the start the she is the "Belle of the Ball." With an outlandish costume that lit up the dark auditorium, Rihanna hit the stage an hour later than scheduled and clawed into her youthful followers like a bear to honey. The aisles were filled with kids who thought they were auditioning for "So You Think You Can Dance." While most of them had two left feet, they were enjoying themselves, but it was apparent that it was far past most of their bedtimes seeing that it was a school night. |
